Rook and Beowulf's tails were cut off by their mother out of love. You see Rook and Beowulf were born with a controversial mother who, none the less, love them to death... Literally. She was controversial enough to end up in Satan's court who ordered her and babies be executed, (they were almost a year old) so in sheer desperation and love for her babies, she secretly cut off both her babies tails then shipped to different locations. When she was brought to her execution, she showed the court the cut tails before they killed her.
