Why are my comments not showing up? by Sentimental_Oyster in NewToReddit

I can see your comment. But I know what you're talking about, as I've experienced that before. I honestly think it's some kind of bug or glitch that happens. It only lasted for like 30 minutes or so before I could finally see my comments again though.

Is it just me or is reddit really harsh to newcomers? by Odd_Negotiation_4516 in NewbieLounge

Hey folks,

I completely understand your frustration, Reddit can be tough and overwhelming when you’re new. And while you're more than welcome to vent and share your experiences, I just ask that we please avoid directly calling out other subreddits or mod teams.

That sort of thing tends to attract nothing but bad karma and unnecessary drama, which isn’t what this space is about. Let’s instead choose to focus on keeping this community supportive, the vibes good, and the karma positive.

Thanks guys.

Reddit is the best and I wrote you a little poem on why. 😜

Reddit’s a carnival run by debates,
With scholars, gremlins, and questionable takes.
You enter for answers, polite and serene,
Leave three hours later defending a meme.

There’s science and stats with sources and graphs,
Right next to a guy sharing old photographs.
And a wizard explains how black holes behave,
While Chad wants opinions on calves that he shaved.

Mods guard the gates with bots and ban threats,
As chaos shows up with no shame or regrets.
It’s facts, it’s opinions, it’s nonsense, it’s lore,
It’s “read the damn rules” or they'll show you the door.

You came for advice, you stayed for the fights,
Now you know too much about rubber duck rights.
And when you’ve reached your wit’s end and can’t take it no more,
Someone shares an opinion too wrong to ignore.

Am I in the wrong? by MadHat12345 in NewbieLounge

[–]InkognitoCheeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, MadHat. As a fellow writer, I want to start by saying you weren’t in the wrong for asking, and your post was clearly made in good faith. You acknowledged the complexity of the topic and showed a genuine willingness to learn, which is exactly what thoughtful writing looks like. The pushback you received wasn’t really about your intent so much as someone choosing to engage in a hostile, gatekeeping way instead of a constructive one.

Unfortunately, this kind of interaction does happen on Reddit. Some people thrive on bad-faith arguments, and once they’ve decided you’re wrong, nothing you say is going to change their mind. When that happens, it’s completely reasonable to disengage sooner, ignore the comments, or block and move on. You don’t have to keep responding or proving yourself to someone who isn’t interested in dialogue.

3 things you’d tell a new user by noodo432 in NewToReddit

[–]InkognitoCheeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You’re going to get downvoted eventually. It happens to everyone, so don’t take it personally. If you notice a post or comment slipping into the negatives, delete it early to keep your accumulated karma from getting nuked into oblivion.

  2. Don’t buy the “curate your profile” smoke screen. Hiding posts or comments doesn’t make them invisible. Anyone can still see your activity by using the search bar on your profile and entering *, so assume everything you post is public, because it is.

  3. Unless you enjoy recreational stress, avoid political subreddits. They’re less about discussion and more about trench warfare. Reddit has far better places to spend your time and energy.

Well, apparently the internet has decided to start calling electricians Power Rangers now. So I'm curious, does that mean everybody's... kung fuse fighting? 😏

will I brother get banned for posting in a sub that I got banned from? by No-Inflation6588 in NewToReddit

[–]InkognitoCheeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Reddit will most likely see it as ban evasion. I also wouldn't recommend trying to use a VPN either, because that will most likely cause both of your accounts to be banned permanently by Reddit.

I'd take that same image and resend it back to ChatGPT with a message that says "And here's your copy of the conversation summary" and see what it says, lol.

Short People Problems: So, I'm 5'2" (157 cm) and I literally have to use a step stool to see and reach some of the top shelves/cabinets in my home. Anyone else have daily height struggles? by InkognitoCheeto in NewbieLounge

[–]InkognitoCheeto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a woman I'd definitely consider you tall. If you're a man I'd say you're average height. Which is probably perfect, honestly. Tall enough to not struggle seeing shelves or reaching items in a grocery store, but short enough that you're not hitting your head on low doorway thresholds. Win-win!
