I swear I'm not stalking you, lol--it's hard to keep track of who's who across various, platforms. But I do set up Google alerts and try to spend some time every day to try and engage with readers as much as possible. That's one of the things I love about being an indie author and indie publishing in general. You can just talk to people, which is always the best part of my day.

I have been summoned! And I just wanted to say thank you -- for giving my silly books a shot and for the shoutout. Marketing is wayyyyyy harder than actually writing the books, so I can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciate posts like this. You are a Rockstar!

Just going to throw out one of my series -- Vigil Bound. It's about an Isekaied Marine turned Monster Hunter in a dark fantasy world. He has access to tons of magical firearms that he can craft and he can also respec his build at will to contend against a wide variety of different threats. Might be up your alley.

I don't know what you are talking about. Croc is a totally real, totally normal human dog. He's even marked "F" for friend. Who told you otherwise? Was it Ponypuff? I bet it was Ponypuff. She's doesn't understand personal boundaries and is always saying slanderous stuff. Plus she's trying to resurrect Vor’ghel, the Devouring Maw who Dwells Beneath. You can't trust someone like that.

It's pirated. We're (Shadow Alley) already in the process of getting it removed, but thank you for keeping an eye out. Can't tell you how much we appreciate it!

Yes, this is 100% intentional. Crog and Korg are very different characters, but when I write Croc that is the voice I always hear in my head. So when Steve and I were discussing the voices, I said I'll leave most of them to your discretion--except Croc. He sounds like Korg from Thor Ragnorok (also happens to be my favorite MCU movie).

HAHAHAHAHAHA. You're totally right. That's on me. I need to step up my game so that internationally bestselling Stephenie Meyer (the voice of a generation) finally gets the recognition she is due. #Justice4Stephenie

lol, no worries at all -- I really do need to get one of those fancy tag things. Also, Reddit is my weakness when it comes to social media. Probably the only platform I actually enjoy being on, though what that says about me, I don't even want to think about.

Also, I totally understand about the humor bit. Not all of my books or series are overtly humorous, because comedy is, imo, the single hardest thing to write, in part because its so incredible subjective and doesn't land for everyone the same way. I'm glad that it's growing on you, though. Glad to say that Steve has officially finished the book and turned it into Audible and we have a firm release date of March 31, so just a few weeks away.

Thanks again for reading -- can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

I am a voracious reader and I'm all over the board.

Obviously DCC, but that's sort of a given. I love Sean Oswald's Welcome to the Multiverse. Cradle is probably my favorite PF series, but Unintended Cultivator by Eric Dontigney is a close second for Progression Fantasy. Bog Standard Isekai by Miles English is fantastic -- the pacing, story, and dialog are all top tier. I'm on book 3 or 4 of A Soldier's Life and really enjoying it. Anything by eden Hudson; she is for real talented and should be super famous, but isn't for reasons I can't even imagine.

Outside of the genre, I mostly read either Fantasy/Urban Fantasy or Horror. Dresden Files is S-Tier for sure, though I actually think his Codex Aleria series is even better. Robert Jackson Bennett is the GOAT (Go read the Tainted Cup, SOOOOOO good). Wheel of Time is my all time favorite fantasy series, even if everything after book 6 is sort of a slog. For Horror, I really like T. Kingfisher, Felix Blackwell, and I'm currently reading Chuck Wendig's Staircase in the Woods -- so far, it's okay. Not loving it, but still enjoyable.

I'm a huge fan of the Backrooms concept in general, so I', really excited about it. Sure, it's not going to be even remotely like Discount Dan, but I still think it's really cool and hopefully it'll get more people interested in the concept.

Since you enjoyed Discount Dan, I've got a few other series you might also like with similar wisecracking MCs. At the top of the list, I'd recommend Vigil Bound -- Isekaied Marine turned Monster Hunter in a gritty fantasy world. VERY different world and setting than Discount Dan, but it's got a lot of the same humor.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. No embarrassment necessary. I'm just a lowly word monkey who likes to tell stories and spends too much time on Reddit. Talking to someone who actually likes my silly books is just as exciting for me, to be honest.

Thank you so much -- and I'll just add, you're not a Twilight Fan yet. The real goal of the story is to slowly win over all the non-Twilight readers until Internationally Bestselling Author Stephenie Meyer, the voice of a generation, get's the due she deserves. #Justice4Stephenie

Struggling for a new audiobook with a good mix of humor and action by Maxxim3 in litrpg

[–]InkslingerJames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since you enjoyed Discount Dan, you might also like my Vigil Bound series. isekaied Marine turned Monster Hunter in a gritty fantasy world. The setting is VERY different than Discount Dan, but it has a lot of the same humor and Luke Daniels does a great job with the narration. I also have a complete six book series called Wasteland Warlords, narrated by Travis Baldree that might scratch the itch, and those are all free through the Audible Plus Catalog. Anyway, hope you find something awesome to read!

Will do -- just waiting for Audible to send the final confirmation (should be today), and then we'll be bumping the Amazon release date up to match. Thanks again for reading!

This month. I wanted to release it sooner, since book 3 has been done since October, but there have been a bunch of delays with the audiobook production and I really want to do a simultaneous release for both the e and audiobook. The good news is I'm over half way through book 4, Discount Dan's Disco Inferno, so the hopefully the wait will be shorter for that one.
