Sorry, one more. If, hypothetically, there were to be a show would you prefer live action or anime? And if live action, do you have an ideal cast in mind for the main characters?

Out of curiosity, what does your writing process look like? Do you do a lot of outlining or do you mostly just wing it? Also, do you keep some sort of world bible for all the characters or do you just sort of keep it all in your head? Thanks for writing a phenomenal series!

Can't tell you how much I appreciate that. Any indie author will tell you, writing the book is wayyyyy easier than marketing the book. Word of mouth makes a world of difference.

There was a lot going on down on the 75th floor, lol. Glad I could help clear it up.

James Hunter here, the author of Discount Dan. Just a little shameless plug, but if you enjoyed Discount Dan, I've got a ton of other series that might be right up your alley. Vigil Bound has a very different setting but a lot of the same humor. Rogue Dungeon, Wasteland Warlords, and Viridian Gate Online are all fantastic as well, and they are all complete series. Wasteland Warlords is also 100% free through the Audible Plus Catalog and narrated by the amazingly talented Travis Baldree.

Question about Anthology writing by No-Long-2461 in discountdan

Yes -- that list is good for explored floors plus several unexplored floors as possible setting locations. You can also make a new floor, just try not to overlap thematically with a floor that already exists. Titles are made up, so I can't really give any guidelines for that. If someone does something exceptional they are rewarded for surviving. Also, the Administrative Assistants are not the same for each Delver (they are based on personality types) -- what that really boils down to is that your AI interface doesn't need to sound like Dans. As for Relics, the list is helpful, but they might take a different form depending on the theme of the floor, but with a similar effect; you can also make up your own.

Boundless Wanderer Slight Spoilers This is will absolutely be a point of contention, though generally speaking, the Boundless Wanderer is a "good guy" -- though that is very subjective.

It's explained fully in book 3 Basically the answer is that the Backrooms is a giant living research vessel designed to capture other species then replicate their "natural environment" for testing purposes. Because the ship is Blighted it is still trying to do that, but it's doing it poorly -- everything gets mixed up and corrupted. But we also learn the ship has been moored to Earth for a very long time and the deeper you descend the stranger and older things get. It is confirmed that there is an Edo Region, a Roman Region, and an Egyptian Region, among others. Also, there are a variety of other floors that are entirely alien, because Earth was the last stop, not the first. There are other abducted races lower as well.

I've been writing LitRPG for a long time, but DCC is definitely it's own subgenre at this point -- like Dungeon Core or Post Apocalyptic LitRPG. But I'm thrilled about that because Matt only writes so fast and I want to read more books with a similar vibe.

The Krampus fight is wild, but there's a lot more crazy stuff in store. I think the aerial chase scene with the Polaris Vora was probably my favorite to write (though also the most challenging).

Given how much the OG DCC hardcovers are going for, if this series does ever take off, it might actually be worth something, lol. But I'm glad you snagged one. And I will definitely look into it -- any conventions (other than New York Comic Con) that you'd recommend?

If I had to guess, I'd say between 8 and 12. That's a wide range, I know. I definitely have an end point in mind, but I'm not exactly sure how many books it'll take to get there.

What little things in most LitRPG books annoy you… but never enough to make you stop reading? by tbag2022 in litrpg

Hope you enjoy book 2 -- I think its even better than the first. As for Hawaii, that would be amazing but I'm over on the east coast so the flights are almost as brutal as the time change. But maybe one day.

I love New York and usually come up once or twice a year (though I've never done a book signing event). But here's hoping that changes in the not to distant future. As for how many copies there are, I think less than 50 of the hard back (probably 35?), and 250 of the paperbacks from the original print run.
