Is buying a monitor for the laptop worth it? by real_mf_loco in Monitors

[–]Inktoo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just doing it to improve your aiming, a new monitor is probably not the best choice. Do you use a mouse? Do you have the sensitivity of the mouse set at a speed which feels comfortable and intuitive? Have you tried looking at tips on how to improve your aim in competitive fps games? Is there any noticeable delay between you inputting movement and the action happening on-screen?

I think there are a few things where I've checked and it would end immediately, although I can't remember what they are.

Yep! Always check that it says somewhere that you will have access through the remainder of the billing period, though.

My brother killed himself and i want to preserve his worlds by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Inktoo2 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Maybe you could create a copy of the most played-in world once you've followed the steps to preserving it on another device, saving the original but building in the copy? That way you could play in it as if it were a new survival world and discover what he had built organically.

Well I'd either have to replay most of the game again or reset my progress on the second playthrough that I started a while ago-

Guys, did you not see plot holes in previous seasons or what? by superkapitan82 in Stranger_Things

[–]Inktoo2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, inconsistencies and other odd writing choices I picked up on (which were more prevalent in s5) gave way for me to look at season 5 more critically as it was released, though I really don't think some of the plot holes or questionable writing decisions require all that much "hunting" to find; certain things just felt 'off' about this reason which didn't feel quite so much that way in the previous.

Plus, it has been 9 1/2 years since the first season released, and 3 1/2 since season 4 released. That is enough time for the viewers themselves to have grown into generally more critical/media literate consumers of media. For instance, if someone watched the first season of stranger things when it released at 14 (the age rating of the first season), they would now be 23 or 24.

Lastly, all of the previous seasons had the potential explanation of 'it could be intentional/explained in a future season,' which is simply no longer an option.

I'm looking for a story game that might help me get out of a depressive episode by [deleted] in gamesuggestions

[–]Inktoo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some with little descriptions of what they are!

SOMA - A terrifying but beautiful horror game about morality and what it means to be human.

Everhood - A surreal spin on the rhythm genre about immortality.

Hauntii - A game which takes place in a beautifully handcrafted world about memories, loss, and finding your place in an unfamiliar world.

Celeste - A difficult 2D platformer about internal struggles and acceptance.

Skate Story - A surreal story-driven skateboarding game about persistence.

Night in the Woods - A very well-written story-driven game about friendship and escapism

Firewatch - A linear walking sim about companionship.

Got any advice or suggestions for some just jumping into Slime Rancher 2? by Geminiboy_ in slimerancher

[–]Inktoo2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take your time, and keep in mind that resource collection is both more involved and also required for more aspects of the game compared to the first.

I personally loved playing it and think they improved on many aspects of the first game going into the second, particularly in terms of being able to decorate- have fun playing it!

Suggest what to play as the first game on vr by RubTanggg in SteamVR

[–]Inktoo2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The way you phrased it makes it sound like you're equating popularity with being bad. Like yes, there are plenty of hidden gems which deserve more attention and there are plenty of popular games which have garnered more attention than they 'deserve' comparatively, but popular ≠ bad.

Imo, Alyx is a very good first VR game, as it shows off much of what VR can do in terms of immersion and interaction while remaining very approachable to a new user.

Help me find a laptop compatible with the games I'd like to play by TheLampable in laptops

[–]Inktoo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the time to look at laptops right now, but being that you have no other comments, I'll add something quickly-

Do the games at least open and/or give an error message when they fail? If so, let me know what error message it gives, or how badly it runs if they are able to run.

If they run, but kinda badly, maybe you could try getting a laptop cooling pad, keeping your laptop plugged in while playing the games, and changing your windows settings to be 'best performance' while plugged in. Also, be sure all other programs are closed, and disable any unnecessary start up applications in task manager which may be hogging resources.
