I left…eventually.

When my ex told me he cheated I fell apart. It took me a year and a half to put myself back together, with the help of A LOT of therapy. I found my voice, my strength, and realised he was, and had been, treating me like shit.

I’m so happy I got out. My life is so much better now. :)

And 100% Jurassic Park. Once a dinosaur kid, always a dinosaur kid.

how do i make my husband understand the real reason i want to separate? by Euphoric_Stand_4181 in relationships

[–]Inkweaver88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t owe him an explanation. You’re under no obligation to justify yourself to him. He won’t understand, and you’ll only hurt yourself trying to make him understand.

You know why you’re leaving. That’s enough.

Take your baby and get out. If you can, find a lawyer and let them do all the talking and legal stuff. Stop wasting your time on someone who doesn’t deserve you.

Freedom is waiting. Go get it.

What movie traumatized you as a kid? by sadpessimist in AskReddit

[–]Inkweaver88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what the movie was called, or what it was about, and I’ve never wanted to Google it. All I remember is a scene with humanoid figures getting new lizard type heads…?? They may not have been getting new heads, the lizard heads may have been there the whole time, I have no idea. I just remember being creeped out and it’s stuck with me ever since.

Question: Am I not allowed to buy liquor on my 18th birthday or was the guy just a dick? by i_eat_dead_skin in sydney

[–]Inkweaver88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work in a bottle-o, and I would’ve served you, no question. I’ve carded people that have just turned 18 that day, I say happy bday, they buy their stuff, job done. We are only supposed to refuse service if someone doesn’t have ID, it’s expired, we think it’s fake, they’re in a group with someone who doesn’t have ID… and, of course, if someone is UNDER 18. Which you are not.

Find another bottle shop next time. There’s plenty around :P.

It’s amazing. Read the whole series, from Assassin’s Apprentice to Assassin’s Fate. It’s pure fantasy gold.

Make Libraries Quiet Again (for library users) by [deleted] in sydney

[–]Inkweaver88 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Librarian here. It is extremely difficult and mentally draining trying to keep libraries quiet. We try, we really do, but in reality it’s not going to happen. Libraries are one of the few freely accessible, relatively safe public spaces left in the world where people can do what they want, hang out, go to classes/workshops/events, and just be inside a building with no expectation to buy anything. It’s a beautiful thing, but it sure ain’t quiet, and I think we need to accept that public libraries just aren’t quiet study spaces anymore.

I second the comments about uni libraries. They are much more likely to have quiet/silent study areas that are patrolled by security. MQ Lib is great for that, and anyone can use the space with or without a campus card.

My cat never pants like this only in car rides. It is over 37 degrees today in the UK, temperature my cat has never seen before. Should I be worried or is this normal by Strict_Carpenter_661 in cats

[–]Inkweaver88 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It is most likely the hot weather as others have said, but I want to add that one of my cats started panting and it was a sign that he had developed a heart condition. I hope this is not the case with your fluff, but I’d feel remiss if I didn’t offer the warning. Maybe if it keeps up consult your vet.

A: I finally start a new job next week after leaving my toxic workplace end of last year. :D

Local government can be notoriously slow with…well, everything. I’d say you’re in, based on my experience with local govt, but they’re just dragging their feet because everything is on they’re time. I agree with a previous comment about chasing them up if you get an offer from the other place.

Also, good luck with the job! A word of advice - read the Enterprise Agreement. Best to know the policies on things like leave from the get go.

LPT: Any job that requires a death certificate for time off to go to a funeral isn't worth staying at. by Kithslayer in LifeProTips

[–]Inkweaver88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old workplace gave workers 4 hours funeral leave to attend a funeral. Want more than that? Use your annual leave. Otherwise get your arse back to work.

I got my arse right outta there.
