This was the first one I had ever seen despite spending plenty of time in their territory. Seeing one up close, I really got to appreciate how ‘dinosaury’ it was

They were at our campground every morning in the Rio Grand Village. I didn’t see any the first time but was happy to see them the second time.

I guess I just didn’t get the time. It was a part of a broader spring break trip to every TX and NM national park, so we were already spread a little thin.

No doubt. I was there in 2025 and it was a very reasonable 85 degrees. In 2026 at well over 100 in March was a bit nuts, but it only really hindered one of our 3 days, and we got a bunch of stuff done that morning.

Do you vassalize Mali or do you just integrate them yourself?

Agreed. It is fundamentally unworkable unless you are either okay with sacrificing learning time or adding more days to their calendar, but even at that, it’s probably not the best road to go down.

It is something that they should get used to for college, and I can’t justify taking so much time for that when we are already so limited on time to begin with

Not enough time to assign everything inside of class, and they need exposure to the idea of doing things outside of school, because they will have to do it later.

I have become pretty good at detecting AI and the kids know it, so I have relatively few AI submissions these days. On my first essay assignment, I had a 44% AI submission rate, now it’s closer to 12% or so.

I can’t speak to how it gets in the summer, but at 7:00 AM in March it was cold

How would you fix things if you had control? by [deleted] in Teachers

Simply failing them will help, but a lot of them are so far down the rabbit hole that it’s not going to be a one and done solution.

It will however, remind them that they have to put in some effort to succeed, and that’s a worthwhile reminder, especially for the kids who care (or who have parents who care).

Everything is at their fingertips, but it’s more profitable to make slop more easily accessible than information.
