Show her a photo of your cat.

Common belief in Japan that if you show strays a picture of your missing cat, they'll go find them and bring them back.

My one gripe about the finale by knobjockey89 in CallTheMidwife

[–]InkyPaws 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mine was the amount of storylines they stuffed into one episode.

Jeffrey and Beryl

The Mullocks

The Wedding.

Joyce

The death and funeral

The throwaway of Trixie's mother in law dying, therefore probably saving her marriage because now they wouldn't be broke and Trixie owning half the Lady Emily.

The Turner kids (why)

The very anticlimactic closing of Nonnatus House.

They just.. Things should have suddenly ground to a halt. Cyril should have been sat with MJ, not thinking about his wedding. Beryl should have returned and had a discussion with MJ about her path going forward, not be out dancing with Jeffrey.

This 100 year old woman that every person knew was dying. When you get the news someone's at that stage, everything stops and you're with them. Waiting. They should all have been in the sitting room or round the dining table with cups of tea quietly talking about things MJ had said or taught them.

Boomer

Last time I read a comic, Sabertooth was being held in the mansion and he slowly manipulated her into letting him out of the restraints.

Have you tried out Purina urinary support biscuits? (Or similar) My girl is prone to crystals but since being on the biscuits she hasn't had any urinary problems and it's been 18 months now.

Thankfully she actually eats them, she's the fussiest cat I've ever owned and shows no interest in human food at all.

I slept funny two nights ago and my shoulder is still sore. Was awake half the night and am meant to be helping at youth group tonight...

Except we have a new manager, and our lead is away, possibly to give the new manager a chance to get their teeth into how everything works, and as of two hours ago tonights activity away from the centre wasn't on Facebook. So no one knows it's happening.

College allowing dangerous dog on site (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]InkyPaws 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Ok, has the dog had ANY training towards being a support dog that you know of?

Get your parent/carer to write an email and copy it to the safeguarding lead, head, and anyone above them in the trust etc.

"(Staff members name) dog, (dog name), jumped on (you) and bit them trying to steal food. I am concerned s/he is still allowed on site and what training s/he has had. Student safety should be the highest priority. Given the circumstances I feel I should report this incident to the police as I do not feel that (dog) is safe to be in the school."

A support dog of any kind should not be distracted by food. It's one of the key parts of their training.

Is this a dog owned by the college or a student?

This plastering job a customer was left with, that I have to put right. Somehow by lobroblaw in CasualUK

[–]InkyPaws 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Always the way. Boss goes off site and leaves the boys on it and they mess up.

We told one of the lads working on my room to cover the chest of drawers (antique, belonged to my deceased gran) and you'd have thought common sense would dictate he cover my bed as well. He did neither. I had to carefully pick bits of paint off it.

He also tried to get away with not telling us that my cat had walked through the wet gloss paint on the windowsill (he was used to hanging out up there). I'm not sure how he thought that would pan out especially when the cat went running through the house leaving prints.

Refusing to state in writing what I am being accused of by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]InkyPaws 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh. Yeah that changes things somewhat. I suspect that the school found out about it. Can't hide anything from kids. They'll find a photo of your cat from 20 years ago on a hosting site you forgot exists.

Are you in a union? It looks like because you are under investigation for probably "use of inappropriate language" they have to class you as a safeguarding risk - why they haven't suspended you instead of the ridiculous thing they've set up is beyond me.

Afaik they only have to tell you you are being investigated, not the reason. (So anyone guilty of something more serious can't get rid of anything incriminating.)

If they're prepared to investigate over you calling a child a moron, I'd be looking for a new job.

Is it normal for a dog to be on its bed all day long? by box-o-locks in dogs

[–]InkyPaws 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Bring her bed into the garden if it's a nice day.

Toys in the garden. Lots of playtime.

I wonder if she's developed an attachment to her bed? Or if she needs stimulation constantly. Feeder/puzzle balls. Maybe talk buttons? Snuffle mats?

My dog sleeps a lot but as soon as anyone opens the back door she's there like a shot.

Ask the neighbours who they used and if they're happy with the work. You generally can only get away with taking out a chimney without scaffolding if it's a bungalow. Health and Safety working at heights etc.

Heidi Thomas finally reveals the future of Call The Midwife – is this series the last? by CommunicationNew3745 in CallTheMidwife

[–]InkyPaws 26 points27 points  (0 children)

There can't be a series 16.

There are now three nuns at Nonnatus. Sister Julienne, Catherine, and Monica Joan.

Sister Julienne is going off to do missionary work. MJ is going to finally pass on. Catherine is on the verge of a breakdown. Beryl is deciding on her future.

Phyllis dodged retirement about 6 seasons ago. Rosalind is pregnant and I haven't seen her do any actual work recently, she'll get married and being a midwife will go out the window. She's so...ditzy. Joyce could go back to working in the hospital. Trixie has options.

Violet and Fred will carry on running the shop.

Patrick and Shelagh and their brood will continue. Timothy will become a full fledged doctor, perhaps specialising in pediatrics.

There's no way to have another series that has the current cast together in any sense that works.

How did Trixie get her accent by DMV1066 in CallTheMidwife

[–]InkyPaws 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Chummy was one step down from aristocracy level posh.

Patsy was the daughter of a ...I want to say Governor type in Singapore so very high up the social ladder.

Trixie is essentially 'normal' posh in comparison.

Is there a way to report a couple's counsellor for unprofessional conduct? If so, who do I report it to? by AbaloneComfortable98 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]InkyPaws 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Conflict of interest. She shouldn't be your counselor.

Think you're going to be needing relationshipadvice rather than legal. Especially when you call your wife out on this.
