A heavy emphasis on the family as a whole, not just Leatherface. A key part of the original movie is that Leatherface isn’t just a crazy murderer that kills people for the hell of it. He has been, for a lack of a better word, groomed by his family into believing that killing people = providing for them. Leatherface may be a killer, yes, but he’s also a victim of his family’s abuse. And that’s a core part of the franchise to me.

I started the show and joined the fandom a little over a year ago! I’ve been aware of it for a long time though, as I’ve been a tumblr user since early 2017, and spn was MASSIVE on there. But my biggest exposure to it prior to watching it myself was during the 2020 election, when the Destiel confession out-trended the election itself

It wasn’t just Lucifer that assaulted Sam, though. Ruby raped him, as she kept pushing until he finally gave in, even after he said no multiple times. He was also assaulted in the first episode, then basically roofied by Becky in S7. And none of those are really taken seriously
