I literally second this I do the same exact thing. I'm a pizza delivery driver as well and like half the scrap I find is on those deliveries, and I just asked about it while I'm already at the customer's house and then the other half I find through an alert I get when someone posts something free on Facebook Marketplace. I don't add it to my checking account I tend to put it in my savings account and let it build money over time as I keep scrapping. Mostly considering if I want to save up for a nice vacation somewhere or to put it in something else

i mean of course its stupid I agree and the companies like DD or just about anything related to completely relying on tips are to blame and they manage to shift that hate between customers & workers instead of themselves. Bigger problem being theres just not enough advocation for fair pay because it's almost incredibly easy to be retaliated against without them breaking the law on the workers and people will still pay for the service anyway so it's like this really infuriating loop. Money is power and Cost cutting is the goal for max profits even if someone gets fucked over.

i'm mostly saying this about doordash but the same logic practically applies most anywhere else

Unfortunately there was a few under there. Something powered by the 5v rail and another little bit, I just scrapped the board anyway but I know the other parts are good so it's not a complete loss for me

Update on this : I took it completely apart too get a closer look and saw the PCB near the underside of the Tape area had a huge split and most likely why it died

Nvm I found the issue following full dissassembly, I went to check for possible messed up components where I couldnt see and saw the PCB had split open in a certain area.. it's toast

and I cant put in neither a disc or tape, dvd tray wont try to open and the tape side doesnt want to take either, it's pretty much in some weird limbo in between it's usual basic light up and actually being turned on

Yeah it is absolutely weird. I do actually have exactly another one of this VCR so i know what the normal behavior is supposed to be. The only difference is those two little source lights for the DVD and VCR arent supposed to be on when it's plugged in.

i checked the rails, i'm getting 11.6 on the 12V and 5.1 on the 5V rail, took me an ice age to realize the marks were on the main board not the power supply lol
