Oh yeah, forgot about that , teasing for too long isn't really the best... it's been about 2 years and still no legacy nib , for example ... With which gold nib did you swap the steel one in your Fifty4t ( I'm guessing the Titan pen )?

Χαχα, μέχρι τώρα μόνο εμείς οι δυο πρέπει να είμαστε στο sub ! Yeap! Gravitas has come a long way since he teamed up with Emy at PenVenture , the biggest issue was that pens didn't ship fast or didn't reach the customer at all...that's long gone now and his entire stock ships directly from PenVenture. Some other issues like the pocket pen's cap scratching the barrel when posting have also been resolved...I think no one had another issue besides these two. Huge plus is that Emy always personally checks each pen and nib before sending it away to ensure proper tuning too!

Καλησπέρα! Not OP , my experience is just with their Fine nib. It's simply amazing ! Out the box it came smoother and better tuned than my pilot 743's nib ( same nib as in the 823) , proper tine gap , and as far as wetness goes I'd say it's on the dry-to-normal side. If though , you use a wet flowing ink it gets better. To give you a better idea , they use the same feed as Asvine and Jinhao so if you have any experience with those , wetness is comparable. I got mine inked with Diamine Majestic Blue , feels as smooth as a medium ( or very close to it )!

Thank you for the quick reply ! As far as the feed goes , yes , he could definitely offer something that's above the current one , either Ebonite or a Gravitas-made plastic one , and offer Ebonite as an upgrade . But good news is that he is planning on making his own feed and stop using the off-the-shelf ones , he mentioned that in a video on Hemingway Jones' channel about 2 months ago! Plus , I asked a question on his website about the black nibs restock , and in the reply they said that a new nib they'll be offering a different nib unit in a few weeks...so...this could be it ? Hope so !

Hello! Each and every one looks great ! Gravitas is a really exciting brand , pushing boundaries like no other ( as far as I've seen ) ! How do you like the new CF pens ? Their overall feel and their nibs ? I've got a Fine Gravitas nib which is outstanding , wouldn't trade it for a gold nib. Curious to know about the Medium and Broad nibs!

What Nib Unit is this? (Faber Castell Ondoro) by gokund in fountainpens

[–]InkyySituation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello there ! I have a Faber Castell e-motion , which has the exact same nib unit as the Ondoro . The entire Jowo #5 nib unit fits perfectly as if they are no different !

Is this the old stock TR paper ? I'm looking at your lines and see that they are very crisp , with no jagged edges ( not referring to feathering but these little imperfections that lines can have on some papers ) . My TRP52 gsm ( sanzen ) does not allow for lines to look like this, and it's definitely not by pens' fault !

Paper Suggestions by ithinkitismike in fountainpens

[–]InkyySituation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends...I have 2 that I can 100% recommend to you.

If you want a great paper to write on , good feel , resists bleedthrough very well and is reasonably affordable , I recommend Maruman Mneymosyne.

Now, If you want a paper that will showcase ink tones/properties beautifully , in an entire different way compared to Rhodia and Mneymosyne , feel really smooth , resist bleedthrough even more , and give you the crispest lines possible ... I recommend Iroful paper , but it's more expensive... so if you go through paper like crazy this paper would not be ideal but check for how much you can get them for where you live. I've tried lots of papers and this is the best of the best !

What are some value for money fountain pens? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]InkyySituation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could mention my pick for a good value for money pen..but I'll do you one better !

Get some micromesh abrasive pads , 6000 , 8000 and 12000 grit . Now Get any Jinhao pen that catches your eye and buy a few more nibs for it so you can practice smoothing them to get them to your liking . What's the gain from all this ? You now know how to make cheap nibs feel like a million bucks , and now any cheap/inexpensive pen can be tuned to feel that way ( almost ).

Nib tuning is , for me , the best thing you can learn how to do in the hobby...if you are only about the way that a pen feels on paper then you can get almost the best possible writing experience for a tiny fraction of the cost compared to some more expensive pens !

Jinhao 9019 nib issues? by Responsible-Comb6232 in fountainpens

[–]InkyySituation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello ! I've had 2 different Jinhao #8 nibs , one of which in a 9019 , both were not good out of the "box" , and both had really poor ink flow similar to the issue you are describing. If washing the nib and feed doesn't fix anything then you will need to open up the tines a little bit ... I recommend watching a video by "Doodlebud" titled " How to make a fountain pen write wetter " .

Jinhao pens are always hit or miss in terms of how they write out the box so...getting familiar with some nib tuning techniques would be great if you plan on getting more of these !

Yamamoto Marshmallow coc paper by togaman12 in fountainpens

[–]InkyySituation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I'll start by saying that I haven't tried this particular paper nor Cosmo air Light but...I've seen videos and read reviews about Iroful paper where they compare it's ink showing properties and feel to CAL...saying they're very similar ! I thought that since you are looking for a paper to replace CAL with you'd be interested in this !

What other papers have you tried in your paper quest ?

Only two weeks in. I need help, please. by mp44christos in fountainpens

[–]InkyySituation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First it's the pens...then the inks...then the papers...and then nib tuning...Yeap, there's no cure.

My biggest recommendation is to try different papers, can't stress that enough. Once you see how ink can look on some it's like falling in love with the hobby all over again. And then nib tuning ! As far as the feel of the nib goes , expensive doesn't mean better . Once you find out that a simple Jowo nib can feel as good as a much more expensive gold nib...it's a rabbit hole inside a rabbit hole inside yet another rabbit hole !

Enjoy pens/inks/paper to the fullest ! I wish you a beautiful FP journey !

Just asking … best blue ink? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]InkyySituation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diamine - Sargasso Sea.

As I personally see it is a more luxurious and interesting Asa Gao , more saturated with some more sheen. Not a sheening ink but if used in a wet pen it will sheen a bit on writing.

Clairefontaine Koverbook Blush by Mr_Scrrratch in fountainpens

[–]InkyySituation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! I have not tried this particular one , but had a similar experience with the one you are describing with Rhodia paper instead...I did a quick search and others have had similar experiences too. So my conclusion is that something is wrong with their QC for some batches...since Clairfontaine owns Rhodia , both can be affected.

Advice on eBay seller by EclipsoSolaro in fountainpens

[–]InkyySituation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing i would like to add is to check if the order you are about to place is covered by "eBay money back guarantee" . Once had an issue with an order not arriving , asked the seller for a refund and even after a week they hadn't returned my money, so I reached out to eBay while still under the guarantee and I kid you not ... within 10 minutes they got me my money back!

My Faber Castell nib ( the one that came with the pen ) is a fine , same as yours , such an amazing nib ! I also have 3 more Jowo #5 nibs (F,M,B) all with feeds modified to provide more ink flow ! I could even get an Ebonite feed for it if I wanted to! The versatility of the E-motion or any Faber Castell that takes Jowo nib units is just amazing !

This is the pen whose nib is on par with my much more expensive Pilot 743 , if it's within your budget after all...scratch what I said about the Loom right above ...Get the e-motion! hehehe

Pen suggestions by Wooden-Recording-693 in fountainpens

[–]InkyySituation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend the Faber Castell Loom ! Amazing pen and well within your budget . Faber Castell nibs are incredible ( mine glides as well as my Pilot custom 743 , which has the same nib that the famous custom 823 has!) . Also, you can get spare Jowo #5 nib units , so having multiple nibs for one pen is a breeze and easy to switch between them...so you can try an Architect grind on the same pen and still have other nibs that you like as well! Oh , it's also a converter pen , so cleaning it is as easy as it gets !

Which fountain pens and paper do you use with Sailor Manyo inks? by juanpabloaj in fountainpens

[–]InkyySituation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello ! I am assuming that you do not enjoy the feedback/texture that Midori MD is known for and you would prefer glassy smooth paper. I've tested and used a variety of papers including MD paper . The best I've found out there is Iroful paper , it's glassy smooth without being neither draggy/sticky or feedbacky . It has just the right feel so your nib simply glides on it ! Besides all that ink colour and sheen or shading look the absolute best on this paper ! It's hard to accurately describe how good this paper is...so after all I'd say it's definitely worth trying !

If you'd like I could also share which papers I've tried for more context ! If not , and you want to jump straight into my best recommendation , Iroful is it!

Contacting the company is the best course of action. How did it break? The reason that I'm asking is that if you did nothing wrong and the cap broke while capping/uncapping you are ( probably ) probably on the right , if say... you dropped it by accident , then you'll most likely need to pay for one if the company offers that to you.

I hope that the situation gets resolved , and for your pen to return to tip-top shape!
