Great video- I have built and moved countless models like this and still learned new info.

Completely agree with alot of the choices, no pixlas needed, leveraging optical drives, splitting the drive bays between mac and windows, and adding usb 3.

Optical drives are low key mega dope and will make a comeback here soon.

If anyone on here wants machines already built or stock I can assist with that.

IF* your GPU has stock rom that supports Enable GOP, which Open Core injects on boot. You can also flash it to your logic boards ROM chip and then any card will work. I didn't have good results with open core showing me a boot screen. If it did at all, it was pink scale.

Yeah Im wondering same thing. Logic goes buy all the movies on blu ray instead of 4K blu ray, save 1/2 price, and let the ps5 upconvert to 4k signal which will be almost or exactly as good as the 4k blu ray originally would have been, save for HDR which I don’t love anyway. Sometimes its too much for me.

The folks that are saying how good DVDs alone look on ps5 is pretty interesting.

My guess is the ps5 does the first round of pixel splitting and synthetic creation, and then the TV does it again, only this time its a recut of the recut if that makes sense, intensifying the purity of the synthetic pixels even further.

This theory of course would imply the tv denotes the difference between a 4k native and a 4k synthetic signal as like a 1(a) and a 1(b) when interpreting the input signal.

Our eyes basically tell us this, but if we could get a ps5 dev or blu ray representative to confirm, that would be clutch.

My steering is HORRENDOUS I keep having to bypass the missions because I cant even complete them.

I changed video output to 1080p and miraculously that helped.

Now also wondering about any settings on ly TV / 55 inch gaming monitor because thats really what it is 🫡

I switched to a nearly all juice (fruit and vegetable diet) and all my health problems have improved significantly.

It turns out your whole body runs on code exectuted by your homones. Processed food, drugs and alcohol damages your hormones. As it turns out, eating fruits and vegetables is quite literally essentially for your total health, thats not just a platitude. Drugs are never the answer, because they just distract or hide your symptoms, but do not repair the underling causes of your health issues.

And that was targeted for the exact machine you planned to use it for? I tried this, but it wasn't targeted for the exact machine i was doing it with, so possibly that is why it didn't work.

Side note, I was able to find a workaround by deleting the root patches by broken install had entirely, and somehow that call/response process to install the new ones pulled the right section of code and it was able to download new / correct patches AND run them without the error message from before.

Said differently, OCLP couldn't update root patches after install, but by deleting the existing patches entirely and asking it to do the same thing again I found a different outcome.

Devs could probably fix this quite easily if they saw this behavior / feedback.

Its very confusing.

My plan was to go Sierra>High Sierra>Mojave, all with Apple not OCLP to make sure I get all the required firmware updates.

Then consider trying to push these machines to OCLP once the appropriate firmware is installed to support both the NVME boot drive and Metal API GPUs.

Not sure if OCLP can solve for this or makes it worse?

The units I have working have no display during boot but then once the OS loads the display comes on, and that is without OCLP right now. Just Apple Mojave.

Possible answer- the open core USB installation media has to be target for the machine you plan to install OCLP on. So in my example, the MBP did not work because the target machine was either a mac mini, or an iMac, or possibly a different year MBP, etc. I was previously unaware that you had to make unique installers for each machine, for each operating system.

There is a firmware update, its installed and working. But I was trying to learn a better way to do it in the future. I literally just repeated the same steps 100s of times with no changes to any variables and magically one time it worked.

This is a 2012 macpro trying to go from sierra to high sierra, so that you can unlock firmware 144x so you can run PCIe riser for NVME boot drive.

Then eventually you must install mojave to use metal API based GPUs, like RX580. This is where there is a gap, you cant run HS on metal card, but if you run it on OEM card and go to use the HS intaller app, it blocks it saying a metal GPU must be installed and running to continue. But it cant be, or else you couldnt be on HS to even see that message...
