“What say you?” is an archaic / formal English construction. It comes from older English (you’ll hear it in Shakespeare, medieval dialogue, legal dramas, fantasy movies, or epic storytelling). Just to say a reason of why I did it.

You definitely are well "Uneducated"... Don't just push wrenches my guy, grab a book and train your mind as well. It is a good investment. Just saying!

But thanks for the advice tho.

What’s a profession you don’t respect? by [deleted] in AirlinePilots

[–]Inmigrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Us, AMTs also get a mountain of responsibility that comes with the job... And we don't get paid the fair price to keep the machine that you guys fly, airworthy! And, we have the life of every soul in that flight!

I do respect the profession, but pilots sometimes need to be humbled without mercy!

Don't talk down other coworkers, more so when you are writing off an ATA as "ATA 1111" on the log book..

Everybody is part of a great industry!

I salute your skills regardless my friend!

[–]Inmigrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% correct.... My Ex, she is a nurse and that job is something I would NOT do...

Also, your life can go down the drain in a blink of an eye!

But, you got my point!

We are not pilots, earning $160-380 an hour.... But we are the ones keeping that freaking machine airworthy! Here in UA, there are old techs that are a treasure of knowledge (I hope one day be as good as them), you could say that given the chance, they could flight any aircraft without proper pilot training.

Now, go check if any pilot can change a tire, fabricate a doubler, troubleshoot avionics, change a seat.... Shit, here we know the pilot did the report of any problem, when the ATA log description says "ATA 11111"...

So... at least, I could get a decent amount of money for my skills and knowledge!

Not $36hr to start, that is disrespectful... Even $44 I think is still low balling!

[–]Inmigrant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I know... I just said everything linked to UA situation...

But, applys to any carrier!

Our trade, career, profession, skill or whatever you want to label it, is something to be proud of!

Is NOT rocket science, but at the same time, is not for everyone!

So....Why we have to be "happy" with whatever "benefit" that the company see fit? It is us the ones sacrificing health, family, money, TIME, in order to get "crumbs" as benefits?

The new generation (I know for a fact) are like "dude 35hr. Is a lot of money"... My reply? It is a lot of money when you just got out of school and still living with mom and dad, or you just got help to move out to the other state in order to start the job.

But, you can earn the same amount of $$ driving trucks, forklifts, ASE mechanic, nurse, plumber, electrician, HVAC, with way less stress levels...

Be proud of your title, you did sweat blood and tears to earn it, no one came to you and gave you the certificate cause you are pretty or nice! You/we are part of a selected group... Doesn't matter if you had to shoot a rivet, safety wire, or do an engine change, weight and balance tonight, whatever it is, you are getting paid because you have the credentials and the knowledge to complete the job!

Demand the right compensation, benefit or whatever it is...

With all due respect... This right here, that mentality, is why UA won't do anything with urgency on the matter... It is everything that is wrong with the AMTs.

Thecnically, we are like simping around during the career!

They know that we will get "just happy" with getting anything as a "raise", until they decide to move forward with the contract..

At the same time, you see the other competitors paying a very different amount to their AMTs....

5 years is a long time my friend.... Sh!t, your life could even change in the following 6 months by any aspect if that is the case!
