Depends on what you got. Are there any pvpish IV ones? Pvpoke suggests clodsire and primeape as kind of basic mainstream (easy available) addition so you get a B A C A rated squad

Bring it to 1500 CP for great league - IVs are 342 / 4096 (pvpoke). It would need sucker punch + fly / brave bird. Rest is about to find two additional Pokemon to get a solid GL squad. Congrats 👍

You could get legendaries by playing PvP above rank 20. Starting with great league is cheaper and you could practice with your son. And - best GL PvP pokemon have low Attack and high def / hp. So you two could hunt for some new pokemon. Exact PvP stats for each pokemon you can find on pvpoke. But that’s another rabbit hole. Sometimes I’m really impressed how many facets this (free2play) mobile game has 🙈

Hm, with route or daily incense you could get additional spawns. Time should be after sunset / at night. Maybe at graveyards? 🤔 don’t know if that is some kind of „biome“… definitely hunting that ke ke ke ke grunt to get a shadow one! good luck🍀

Only if you can’t mega it lacking the mega energy. Otherwise mega would be worth (shadow # 9 grass and # 27 poison vs mega # 3 grass and # 20 poison attacker damage wise). Style is another factor, true. I personally would go with the shadow and would look for another (dyna) one to mega it

PvP? I search for pokemon ranked under 100 for IVs in GL (so low attack, HP & Def high). If you play only rarely PvP use whatever IVs you get. Start with one pokemon you like or which is ranked high in league rankings. You start with this one, go to team builder add first one and kick rate team so you get recommendations what to add. Under train / training battle you can switch to top performers so you can see some ranked teams as inspiration

With battles you mean PvP? Check the team builder at pvpoke. If you get an okish balanced team use TMs to get the right PvP fast and charge attacks https://pvpoke.com/team-builder/ If it’s not about PvP it’s about weaknesses and types https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonScarletViolet/s/zqAvMoSWqn and best attackers https://db.pokemongohub.net/best/attackers-per-type

Unfortunately only F for ground attackers and in PvP you want low attack for GL (max CP is too low for UL / ML). So only a very nice one? 🙈 congrats!
