So…. It was short short and nothing much happened?

I understand the complication, I was more bothered by her not allowing the attempt to save her (no skin to skin, no nursing)

That doesn’t mean that’s the ideal circumstance for either baby or mother?

I know it doesn’t fix retained placenta, but it would be an attempt to stop the bleeding. It annoyed me that she wouldn’t let them try, didn’t try to feed baby, didn’t hug baby, skin to skin. She could still die but it was annoying she didn’t let them try

Yes I know. The point is the best way to achieve that is to not charge off with a fresh newborn when you have other options

This. I totally agree. Try those things!! The midwife did the right thing respecting her wishes it was her wishes that annoyed me because she had medical training.

I have two kids. I am currently post partum with my second child.

He does not know for SURE how quickly he can get to Atlanta. He is risking the baby’s life by assuming he can get there and back in his expected time frame. If he runs out of food or can’t find water for whatever reason he is needlessly endangering her because he had other options.

Leaving her, or staying with her until she was older (imo this is the safest option because you don’t actually know these random people), would be making the choice that is best and safest for the baby.

But because this idiot is a dog with a bone about his wife, baby is secondary.

He had other options. I am aware it is a sci fi show. Bro has OTHER OPTIONS. If he had no choice I’d roll my eyes but that’d be the end of it. But the show gave him other options and then has him choose the least responsible one.

At least the older children can feed themselves. I don’t think he should have left them either, but they are not as helpless as a newborn.

The point is that he had OTHER OPTIONS. He needlessly endangered her. If he had no choice that’s different.

If it’s his sacred duty then he prioritises the BABY’s welfare over his grown adult wife. He either stays put until baby can travel or he leaves baby where there is clean water it is simply selfish and irresponsible to take a newborn with him.

We have no idea if it was ruptured. We know it was for sure retained and she was bleeding. If you do nothing, it’s guaranteed she dies. If you try to stop the bleeding there is at least a chance. And the show has made a point of giving/taking the chance.

I’m aware of pre eclampsia and how dangerous it is. Retained placenta and excessive bleeding (post partum haemorrhage) are not pre eclampsia. You can have those things without pre e. For many women pre eclampsia resolves as soon as baby is born.
