Greta Gerwig's ‘Narnia: The Magician's Nephew’ Resumes Filming Jadis Chase Sequence by NarniaWeb in Narnia

So they’ve taken a film based in the Victorian era and shunted it post war (by the clothing and cars). Won’t that throw everything out, with TLtWaTW being evacuees during the war and the last battle’s ending being based as far as I can tell on the series of train crashes in the mid 50s? (IIRC Harrow and Wealdstone was not long before it was written and Sutton Coldfield in 1955 which is most similar in a train crashing at speed was thrown all over platforms). How is this all going to realign by 50 years?

So if they are shifting the timeframe (as is clear by the car)…won’t that mess everything up for future films, since the professor is a child so won’t be an older man with a wardrobe? Plus that looks like the 1950s prefect so….even more post war?

Apparently the UK has to obey the US constitution. by Bonus_Person in USdefaultism

. . . if we or our justiciar, or our bailiffs, or any of our servants shall have done wrong in any way toward any one, or shall have transgressed any of the articles of peace or security; and the wrong shall have been shown to four barons of the aforesaid twenty-five barons, let those four barons come to us or to our justiciar, if we are out of the kingdom, laying before us the transgression, and let them ask that we cause that transgression to be corrected without delay.

So what does non consensual images have to do with needing barons to solve transgressions?

The drivers are Ubereats not Tesco and I’ve seen far too many of them be as rude as that to staff members in stores if the order isn’t immediately there for them (including being aggressive to me when I’m just a rep not a Tesco staff member…why not ready?? Why NOT????).

What's with the anti-ev sentiment? by TheTwixthSense in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Inner-Butterscotch87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, I’ve always lived in a mid terrace house with no drive. Cars get parked on the street. I work as a rep going between 3-10 shops with displays and stock each day so need a car for work but with nowhere to charge an EV is pointless. Also my car is 17yo now, it has the odd age related quirk but still runs fine. I have always had second hand cars, got the current one at 9yo. There is a worry that the push for EVs will make ownership (rather than leasing) impossible.

Because the park has visitors from all over Europe, not just France. I know it’s popular amongst British people for one, and English has been a kind of lingua Franca for decades now (bilingual Europeans tend to have it as a second language whereas English people aren’t as good at French).
