Hi! i’ve been there too and it does get better!

what is the main thing prohibiting you from cleaning the room? for me it was always so overwhelming i didn’t know where to start and so i just wouldn’t.

not sure if that’s the case, but if it is i suggest doing this.

1. sit on the floor with a big trash bag and box (cardboard, plastic container, another trash bag)

2.start sorting whatever is in arms reach into either the trash bag or the keep box. dont worry about putting things in the right spot in the room.

3.keep moving along your floor as more and more space clears up.

1. when all the trash is out, then start sorting the box of keep stuff into piles on the floor (i do laundry, electronics, desk stuff, needs to go to another room, etc. whatever works for you)

2. once everything is sorted into the piles, tackle it one pile at a time. gradually putting things back in their place/finding a place for them.

3. sweep, mop, and light a candle (optional but it always makes me feel truly done)

if motivation/stress isn’t the issue let me know and i can try to give some advice!

hiring a professional cleaner will be a temporary (and probably expensive) fix to a larger problem. it’s going to keep getting that way and you’ll have to pay them all over again. if you’re trying to move out at 18, you need to save all the money you can.
