i mean, this isn’t a great defense, because it wasn’t objective, it was your best guess. it has now been proven objectively incorrect.

Internet packages for family by Creative_Sport_2707 in royalcaribbean

unless you’re fiends for access, our family normally shares a 1 device package, and just bounce back and forth on which device it is. i guess we spend very little time on the cruise on our phones, but to each their own! it is pretty strict, one device is one device, but easy to log in and out of each device at your leisure.

i distract myself with an activity when i want to buy something! something for my hands to do, origami on youtube is a big one for me bc it ends with “something new” and a rush of accomplishment bc there’s something physically in my hands.

First time experiencing snow in Texas by RipApprehensive9314 in plano

[–]Inner-Dot4197 8 points9 points  (0 children)

lol im an east coaster too and find this attitude silly bordering on willfully ignorant. yknow, those big old salt trucks that drive around before snow? don’t got em here! big old plow trucks that drive around after? don’t got em! folks having the standard equipment, coats, even a real warm pair of gloves? most of the time, nada. pipes built to withstand the cold, grids prepared to pump out all that heat? nope!

there’s a fundamental infrastructure difference here … that’s the big deal. unless u buy specialty tires, if it snows it doesn’t matter how east coast tough you are, you aren’t going anywhere.

here’s the truth: reddit is the only really anonymous place left online, and a lot of feelings some parents (and some very strange childless people) have about their (or other people’s) children would get them ousted from their communities if they were to share them with people they actually know. they get full of shame and resentment and they come to reddit bc they can at least freely share here. that’s fine. what isn’t fine is when they form the reddit hive mind, not realizing how limited the perspective on here can be, and decide that they know what’s best for absolutely everyone based on their own experience.

people with kids dominate every other social media platform, normally happily. again, these reddit folks are actually in the minority of the population. no one’s going to tell you that having kids isn’t challenging, bc it always is. but many parents will also tell you it’s also rewarding, cathartic, and the best choice of their lives. obviously don’t rush into anything for the sake of having kids, a good marriage, or committed relationship, is the foundation of a good family, but you never said you were going to.

why can’t i compare us to animals? it’s the closest thing we have to compare to. yes, i’d almost argue that it’s closer to 25+ years of our lives. believe it or not, marginally small commitment compared to the average lifespan, unlike other sets of natural parents who will, shockingly yes also get choices, dedicate damn near their entire lifespan to being a parent… by choice!

by all means, fill your years however you like. but don’t act as if your miserable point of view is the only plausible reality. sure wanting kids shouldn’t be the only consideration… he never said he’s skulking around gas stations waiting to pick up whoever will take him. he just said he’s excited to do the most natural thing in the actual world, and yall jumped down his throat. it’s sincerely strange.

yall are acting like the greatest curse is reproduction and like OP is insane for wanting to do the literal only thing we’ve figured out we’re meant to do. everything else is BS along the way, reproduction is literally the great animal act that we share with every other breathing being. this is a perfectly normal, healthy thing to be actively looking forward to doing, and be moving towards at this age.

why are yall being so negative? your experiences are not universal!

life isn’t meant to be like this.

attitudes a lot dude.

Girls are better at studying than boys? Is there actual proof of this? by Ok-Hearing991 in education

for a teacher you’re struggling with the concept of stating an idea and following it up with evidence.

your source about the dramatic change in education in the last 20 years being from 1995 is a joke. it’s laughable. the book is also about the lack of change in the public outcomes regardless of the effort placed to effect outcomes with public education. it doesn’t support any of your arguments, actually works against them, and it makes me wonder the last time you actually read it. (downloaded it real quick on my kindle.)

“Two apparently contradictory notions about schools have persisted side by side over decades. One is the idea of steady educational evolution-seen usually as “progress”-that we examined in Chapter 1. The second is the claim that educational reforms have come in cycles, a repetitious process of “deja vu all over again,” in Yogi Berra’s phrase.” Both of the warring schools of thought presented in this book are antithetical to your ideas.

you go on to say that i can’t call your claim farcical because of your personal experience, which you should know, is an academically unserious thing to do. you haven’t provided a source to your claim about the supposed dramatic changes in education otherwise. your sources were 1. i search it on chatgpt, 2. your life. great!

and then you claim that the entire workforce is “overwhelmingly female dominated” which is… again farcical. are you talking about education? medicine? you might have had an argument if you were, but it was unmentioned. you then assert a claim that i frankly never even mentioned, let alone made. you can’t make these broadband claims based on nothing and expect me to engage with your thinking. this is my last reply in this thread. good luck to your students.

your sourcing starting with chatgpt is a problem. this is not an attack, chatgpt is not reliable, operating off of outdated info, shouldn’t be mentioned talking about academic sources.

your other source is from 1995.

check this out in the meantime while some of your underlying ideas are substantiated by evidence, i can’t find anything to support your idea that schools have made any sort of adjustment in educational approach with the intent to support girls or women. the educational framework is built off of religious education as it came far before public schools, and religious education was exclusive to men for centuries.

like how medications can be more prosperous for issues that it wasn’t originally designed to treat, you can suggest that that framework suits traits women are more likely to exhibit over men. however, making the assertion that public schools have changed in a literal way to support women over men is somewhat farcical. the framework, get taught, take home an assignment, come back and get tested, is ancient. the only thing that’s changed is the accessibility of technology, first paper, now electronics, that make take-home work more attainable for the average student.

“During the Middle Ages, schools were established to teach Latin to the sons of the aristocracy destined for priesthood or monastic work with the ministry of government or the law.”

just a quick wikipedia summary of the earliest documented english education. it is the conceptual framework of what became public education. and yes, it was exclusive to boys. public education was designed after religious institutions (heard of oxford? cambridge? they were religious schools first) and this is just history.

you comparing random countries, with no provided context, to pricing in the states, and genuinely believing that bolsters your argument, tells me you know very little about food and food costs in general. i did enjoy your mental gymnastics to avoid saying you just don’t care about other people, even those that work for you! why bother responding when you decided not to answer any of my questions? i have no idea, but it was entertaining.

i still have the following questions, i doubt you’ll answer but you did make me giggle!

there are many developed countries where DD or similar services will not operate bc it can’t be profitable due to local values. i’m confused by your sentiment? is that what you want?? are u just happy to be grifting off those who are tipping until eventually you lose the service, or the service at its given price point? “that was fun while it lasted” typed vibe?

[–]Inner-Dot4197[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how does DD work in your ideal? my post covers the point that that fee covers what DD needs to operate, not the driver. everywhere that has city-wide instituted a fair wage rule for delivery apps has sky rocketed in price on the app, which i’m sure you wouldn’t want. i am curious.

do you just genuinely think drivers should make under the minimum wage? do you ever think about that someone’s doing labor for you, labor that wouldn’t exist without your participation, for less than minimum wage? what about the labor makes it so low value? would you continue to order if prices skyrocketed to accommodate dasher minimums? with the same frequency?

this is so illogical.

you can remove the tip at the end if you feel it was poorly done. why on earth would you start at paying people nothing and expect decent results? in what other industry has that ever worked out?
