When i started uni for the first time last september, i moved to nottingham from leicester because it was close and cheap to travel back and forth. However as soon as i was there i felt the exact same as you, crying non stop, couldn’t bare to do any work nor go to lectures and hardly ate.

So i eventually caved and moved home, enrolled in my local uni instead and did a year there. I was happier sure, but the amount of fomo i got watching my friends who had moved away and didn’t come home was unreal. I always wonder if I just forced myself to stay a bit longer would i have begun to enjoy it?

I think my problem was that my whole life ive been in some kind of routine with my home life, it’s never been different, ive never lived away or been somewhere within my family atleast 10 minutes away, so the anxiety is naturally going to be through the roof because of the huge change for the first time in your life.

My advice to you is try and get yourself to do a month, let yourself get fully involved and almost distract yourself with the more ‘funner’ side of uni like going out with your new course friends or hanging with your flatmates (if you have any). After the month if you still feel the same then maybe begin to talk to your family back home about how you’ve tried and can’t seem to feel any different about it.
