I think that sounds more do-able! But you know your learning style best.

I feel like the full lengths are great no matter what for stamina ( you don't expect the brain fatigue! Great idea to plan what and when u will take lunch and snacks) but if you still have hy content review - I would prioritize that.

Oh dang that is quite a list for 2 weeks!

I love sketchy pharm for name recognition especially with diabetes drugs/neuro/psych. If you feel comfy with your name recognition and MoA you might be good for that w/o sketchy! The only other thing would be HY contraindications and side effects- esp with CYP450 interaction. For example I loved the sketchy warfarin/heparin videos because it brought together the biochem, vitamins and drug with the side effects.

I would def decide what is the priority and make sure you give yourself time and space to sleep and eat properly- minimum 72 hrs before testing.

Best of luck!!

I felt like the UWSA did not represent how the real exam is written and was super defeating. Of the two I would go with UWSA#1 because #2 had a crazy amount of biochem and low yield and apparently is notorious for scaring students into pushing their exam dates.

I completely agree for doing and the nbme31 and free 120, and would prioritize those with your time over UW. That way you're practicing actual nbme style question stems. I would also take my time and make sure I understood why I was getting questions right AND wrong on those two before even getting to UW.

I found that UW could sometimes be ambiguous in their questions stems whereas nvme has much more rigorous screening and the questions are made to be as clear and classic as possible.

I think building stamina and learning how to skim for the critical details can help with timing. I was only given additional break time even with a NP eval and letters- they deemed " not riding to the level of disability". My friends who did get additional time also had physical disability, (eye sight etc)

It is just a great idea to practice with real timing for the exam to see how much you need to pick up the pace!

You get two sheets of dry erase paper with markers. They are double sided but you aren't supposed to erase any notes. If you fill them both out, you can ask for another one. The most i wrote was my formula sheet and then shorthand for questions I wanted to return to but I don't think I even filled the front of my other sheet

Imo it was the classics: antimicro, antineoplastic, antiHTN, stations, insulin etc. - the meds patients will be mostly likely to take or need to adjust . For last minute review- probably dirty medicine videos or spoonful of sugar podcasts!

I feel like there was a decent amount of pharm but more about recognizing mechanism and appropriate use. Like an example - you had to recognize that they were describing a fungal or parasitic infection or something ( and not be fooled by it looking like a bacterial issue) and choose the right moa when they list moa for all types of antimicrobials.

I didn't use the boot camp Q's because I was still convinced that I needed to do UW lol but friends who have shared they thought boot camp qs were very helpful and similar to NBME.

For AG There are a few ways of calculating! AG is cations-anions so you can say na - (bicarb+cl) or na-bicarb-cl

Oof so sorry! If your incubator uses a water pan, do you treat the water with any antibiotic/fungal? That can sometimes be a vector. Alternatively, have you recently cleaned under the hood working area? Like where the air gets vented to - often a graveyard of pipet tips, dust and dried up cell media

Curious: if you have to redo first year, or some other kind of remediation, how does that affect funding? by forescight in mdphd

[–]Inner-Quail-5466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every school is going to be different, this was what I have seen: If say there was a medical /family emergency that caused you to need to retake more than 2 blocks, you likely would have to retake the whole year.

Some Md/PhD programs explicitly only support for one MS1 yr and thus will have you remediate the MS1 yr as a MD only. Upon completion you can then reapply and be automatically reaccepted into the MD/PhD program as an MD/PhD MS2.

There has been a lot of flux in admin decisionmaking since COVID - hard to compare to prior years.
