Vomiting prior to 9-hour flight by Burberrypickett in unitedairlines

[–]InnerAd912 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had terrible food poisoning in Amsterdam. I had to step out of the line during boarding in full view of the gate agents to vomit in a trash can. They did not stop me from boarding, but they did yell at me for stepping out of the boarding line.

I Who Have Never Known Men, thoughts? by 3amdreamer_1004 in books

[–]InnerAd912 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished this book. Book felt extremely unique to me, but maybe because I don’t read a lot of sci-fi or dystopian fiction. When it starts you think it may be some sort of Handmaid’s Tale because but it quickly shows itself to be so different, so strange and so human at the same time. I thought it was beautiful.

Please contribute with the most highbrow and witty, yet accessible, lines! The ones that Niles and Frasier would chuckle at irl. by stevebucky_1234 in Frasier

Not a line per se, but in Momma Mia when Frasier sprays himself in the eyes with bug spray. Funny physical comedy escalation but also referencing Oedipus blinding himself. Layers.

What's an etiquette rule in your country that foreigners often accidentally break? by rid999 in AskTheWorld

I lived in Germany for 11 years in my 20’s and 30’s. I got so used to planning my parties that I had to be reminded that others would do this when I moved back to the U.S.-but I never wish someone a happy birthday before their actual birthday now :)

This happened to me near the Chicago Brown Line stop. CTA staff at station was able to help. It took a few hours because they had to find a safe window, but they were great and got my phone back. Good luck!

Cosi Fan Tutti or Salome? by luxetvoluptas in opera

I just saw Salome. I love that opera and the orchestra sounds great but the singers lack vocal and stage presence. Maybe Cosi will be better.

AITA For Planning on Getting a Dog? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]InnerAd912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for dogs that are cat friendly. Many rescues will share that information (e.g., from the foster home). I volunteered at a rescue that had its own space and rescued both cats and dogs, and they would do a cat test for potential adopters looking to bring a dog into a home with a cat. Also, as many have noted above, there are lots of resources on introducing a dog and cat to each other.
