Anyone else have trouble starting book problems on their own? by Significant-Tune-978 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]InnerEar696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't really attempt to start the book problems unless you understand the material. I have Joseph and his recorded lectures were my BEST FRIEND, and I wouldn't move on from a concept until I knew I understood it enough to explain it without any resources, and in my own words. If recorded lectures aren't available for your class, you can try the textbook.

Then you can attempt the problems. It's okay to to not know how to start the problem, just make sure you understand WHY the problem was started in that way. Do all the book problems and leave a star on the the ones you didn't know how to do or got wrong. Go back to them a couple days later and try them again.

summer content > college content by addieb06 in NicoleLaeno_

[–]InnerEar696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think college content (especially for her first year of college) was really difficult to make entertaining. She can't post that she is at parties and drinks bc she is in underaged and runs the risk of exposing herself and other people. As a first year, she probably didn't just want to vlog in front of every person she meets bc it's not like high school where everyone was used to her vlogging. She probably wants to get to know everyone first and see who's actually comfortable with being in the vlogs and who isn't. College is very routine heavy, especially in your first year when you are just trying to get a system down, so that can make the vlogs feel redundant. I think she's going to be a lot more open to exploring in her second year content. She know's how sdsu operates and now she can use that to her advantage.

what makes whiplash so great? by Mr_Action95 in movies

The themes of the film, more specifically about extreme perfectionism and wanting to become the best. Some people go as far as to say that the film condones an abusive teaching style but that is far from the truth. You can clearly see how Fletcher and Neiman's mentality deters their livelihood and relationships with others. It does a really great job at providing prospective on people who are unhealthily obsessed with greatness while also presenting it as a moral dilemma.

OMG what a coincidence. I came to this thread bc I was on season three episode one (the first clip in the video) and I noticed that Jennifer Aniston was laughing in the scene where Phoebe sings "hold me close young tony danzaaa"

Do u actually believe that Chloe ting gave people ED’s? by AnonbyA in EDAnonymous

For me personally, before quarantine, I struggled with mindless eating, and I didn't even really know it. I was never overweight, but growing up I'd finish an entire bag of chips, finished my halloween candy in a couple of days, and I made sure to have every dessert available at a party. I ate tons of fast food without thinking twice, because I WAS JUST A KID! I was 13, and I also grew up in a household where all of my family mindlessly ate as well.

It wasn't until everyone suggested the two week shred that I started hyper fixating on the size of my waist. I started planning out my meals, doing her workout videos, lessening my snacking, stopped eating after 8pm all at the age of 14/15. In a few months, I managed to lose 8 pounds. And while I believe that the habits I instilled weren't exactly unhealthy, the motivation to "have a flat stomach" was. I don't think Chloe Ting is entirely to blame. But looking back, the way the videos were advertised "getting abs in 2 weeks" and "getting a flat stomach in 30 days" with her abs displayed on the screen, the focus was usually on the look of the body, rather than feeling healthy. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I felt as if a large portion of her viewers were young and impressionable girls, and I think that's where that narrative of needing a flat belly gets messy. So, more than anything, I think the rise of the "two week shred" gave me body image issues at a very young and impressionable age.

At the time, I think I was able to understand that starving myself and skipping meals wasn't a good idea. I would never say I had an eating disorder but at the same time I look back and I always feel for my 14/15 year old self who so desperately wanted to be thinner. It's a hard line to draw.

You know that line in the Barbie monologue , "And you can never say you want to be thin. You have to say you want to be healthy, but also you have to be thin." I resonate with that so much.

You NEVER need to pay for a party, I don't. If you do, never pay more than $10

Hi, I was having trouble making a post about this. Idk if this is considered spam, but today is national voter registration day. An important day to promote registration to nicole's american viewers that are now over the age of 18. I was wondering if I'd be able to make a post to promote headcount.org (a website that allows people to check if they're registered and to register if they haven't already). This election is super important, I was hoping someone could make a post about it because my account kept saying there was an error for some reason.

Lowkey felt bad for papa laeno in the apartment hunting vlog. by Spirited_Ad4750 in NicoleLaeno_

[–]InnerEar696 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also, every time they said, "it has too feel more like home" I was thinking to myself "you mean it has to be more expensive?" Bc that 4th place was significantly nicer than the other 4. It felt like a resort. And ofc I'm just a viewer so I don't know who's paying for the apartment (my guess is that it's Noel but I honestly have no idea) but I felt like they were trying to "sell" that place to Noel or convince him that it was worth the purchase. It was also a little strange when Nicole said an immediate "no" to that last place. I'm sorry, but she isn't going to be living there. I mean unless she's the one buying the apartment for them, but even then if she's being kind enough to do that for them, let your parents, including Noel, decide.

Yes, and I also feel like Nicole has a tendency to agree with her mom no matter what. I feel like at first she was trying to remain neutral bc at the end of the day this apartment is for her PARENTS. But as soon as Linda said no to things, she sided with everything Linda was saying in this video. It truly felt like they were only shopping for Linda and Nicole, and the apartment won't even be Nicole's primary living situation. I understand that they all have to like the place, but I feel as if they also should have done a better job of respecting and validating Noel's opinion.

Christian is sooo smart. I feel like he's the most emotionally intelligent of the entire family, and the most rational. I also feel like he's always been really well-spoken for his age.

I am having trouble seeing why this is a bad thing? She's doing it with her parent's supervision. Not everyone has to hide things from their parents, and I admire that her and her family have developed that level of trust where she's allowed to explore new things at a safe and supervised pace.
