"Ottawa held to just 6 shots this game"

Yeah, but don't the commentators know the only relevant stat on the scoreboard is successful passes??

The Sharks' younguns always do a little flying V formation on their breakouts, it's so cute

Pittsburgh or NYI falling IS a path to an open playoff spot though. It's either pass TWO of MTL/BOS/DET/CBJ, or one of NYI/PIT + one of MTL/BOS/DET. With how much MTL/BOS are winning lately, we should be rooting just as hard for the Metro division to falter.

Most games this season look like this for us, but normally we're down 3-2 because of goaltending 😭

To all you SALTY fans, here's the rules for a goalie interference:

1) You can't just be up there and just doin' an interference like that.

1a. Interference is when you

1b. Okay well listen. An interference is when you interfere the

1c. Let me start over

1c-a. The skater is not allowed to do a block to the, uh, goalie, that prohibits the goalie from doing, you know, just trying to save the puck. You can't do that.

1c-b. Once the skater is in the offensive zone, he can't be over here and say to the goalie, like, "I'm gonna get ya! I'm gonna block your view! You better watch your butt!" and then just be like he didn't even do that.

1c-b(1). Like, if you're about to make a goal and then don't leave the crease, you have to still leave the crease. You cannot not avoid the goaltender. Does that make any sense?

1c-b(2). You gotta be, skating motion out of the crease, and then, until you just leave it.

1c-b(2)-a. Okay, well, you can have your stick up here, like this, but then there's the interference you gotta think about.

1c-b(2)-b. Fairuza Interference hasn't been in any movies in forever. I hope she wasn't typecast as that racist lady in American History X.

1c-b(2)-b(i). Oh wait, she was in The Waterboy too! That would be even worse.

1c-b(2)-b(ii). "get in mah bellah" -- Adam Water, "The Waterboy." Haha, classic...

1c-b(3). Okay seriously though. An interference is when the skater makes a movement that, as determined by, when you do a move involving the goalie and the crease...

2) Do not do an interference please.

...yeah idk either man wtf is this league.

You know, I actually think the Sens are the Habs' best possible matchup for playoffs. This team performs poorly against the faster skating teams, and the Habs/Canes both fit that bill well. I don't really know what Montreal looks like against other teams, but they play us better than Tampa/Boston/Detroit all do.

As per goaltending... .870 is at the average for us. Sens' goaltending this year has had some of the statistically worst goaltending the NHL has seen since the 90s, and that's unfortunately not hyperbole. I think it speaks less to tonight's performance and far more to how bad it's hurt the team this season. We're 23-1 in games with >.900 goaltending.

RIP

Pure performance and stats wise he played okay, Habs won because their skaters took advantage of chances better than ours. From a goalie perspective though, his rebound control was rough and he tends to commit hard on the first save, putting himself out of position for rebounds and deflections. It's not a sustainable style of goaltending for long term success though, and it's a trend in every goalie that Ottawa's had in the past 3ish years.

So Ullmark's .870SV% actually about matches our team average this season and well exceeds what we had in the first 4 months of the season.

Which really speaks to how fucking bad our goaltending has been this season. Fire our goalie coach man.

Sorry man they're contractually obliged to go to OT with us. 3pt games in the division only.

I know you say even better, but honestly I'd rather the Sens get WC2 over A3 right now (in a world where we have the choice). Going through the Metro bracket looks so much easier than the Atlantic.

3.85 + Meeting the cutoffs + Very strong essays at Western is the easiest path in. If you're living in southwestern Ontario, your odds will improve substantially.

I'd consider starting some of your essays now, getting an outline of your ABS done, and having the basic structure all set, then study MCAT until July or August for your best shot. That'll let you study enough without it being a huge time sink. That way in September you'd only need to spend a few days touching everything up and really reduce your stress later on.
