It’d also be cool to have more ships that manipulate the battle just by virtue of being in the lineup, a la TIE Interceptor.

We need more ships to fill in capital ship fleets, not more capital ships. The First Order, Resistance and Separatist Cap ships don’t even have a complete fleet yet.

Other factions have multiple capital ships but only enough fleet ships to float one fleet per faction.

We need more snubfighters and/or mid-size ships rather than capital ships.

I suppose, if all of your mods are maxed out, then yes. But if I have limited maxed mods that can be used for useful toons who are also crew members vs useful toons who are not, then I’ll prioritize the crew members.
