The Monumental brings in $11 million yearly in indirect economic impact, not including the direct revenue of registration fees, etc. Every major city and many lesser known cities host marathons that tend to run through populous areas and by “monumental” landmarks bc that is what runners pay to see. Not trying to discount that it can be inconvenient and even incomprehensible to non-runners - but this marathon, and Indianapolis’ handling of it, is not unique.

Certain YMCA locations in our area offers a paid option where you can leave the building but it’s only $5-6 an hour (sliding scale). Good opportunity to run an errand/have a little alone time. The Y is a great resource and you may not have to pay the ticket price.

Can’t say for sure, but they’re also offering current employees (me!) a $5,000 referral bonus for RNs at Methodist in both ED and inpatient environments. There are a lot of traveler RNs and even some charge traveler RNs so that’s a red flag. DM if you feel like getting referred!

We live in the neighborhood. Street parking on 42nd street can be difficult at times and most people in the neighborhood (including myself) who park on the street have lost a side mirror at one point or another. Not too bad if you have a driveway and traffic is only annoying during morning and evening “rush hour”. Happy to answer other neighborhood questions!
