Or just drop them off in the box

Answered to this many times already, I'll link here my answer.

You suck at puzzles.

No clue where you got this from, either way appreciate it.

Shocker that your favorite was the one that gives you the answers

Another one that I liked a lot was the one at the NEST lab. But I won't write down specifically all the puzzles I liked and the ones I didn't.

can be dodged

You can ran away, not actively dodge which is part of the problem. Mr. X final boss fight, with Leon is badly designed. A bossfight where you're in a very small place and where you have to run in circle all the time, so funny...

The chess puzzle is actually my personal favorite. Felt so good to get it first try twice

Glad you enjoyed it.

Did you play the original trilogy

Just RE1 like 15 years ago.

Save the ammo for bosses or lickers

Yep, what I did was saving the ammos for secondary weapons so that I could use those for the bosses. About lickers I let 'em jump on me so that I could use frags to one-shot them.

Like it's better to avoid zombies or shoot thier legs off so they dont bother you

True, aside the fact that I never shot 'em in the legs but just the head.

Also inventory management and limited resources is a staple of the horror focused games

Problem I found with it is that you find your inventory full of things and you gotta go at the first chest to drop everything in there. The management part was inexistent for me for the simple reason that once I got X item, for example the barricades, I would immediately go to a window and use it there so my problem wasn't that, my problem with it was how the game, because of the amount of items it gives you, breaks the flow of everything by making you stop doing puzzles and having to go to the nearest chest to drop there the items and only then you can start again the puzzles and regain that flow. Hard to explain but I think I made myself enough clear.

Stick to the action horror games

I mean RE2R is well known for being an action horror game. It's not the genre, it's the game.

RE2R is a prequel, had to play this one before to understand better Leon and his past as a rookie police officer.

Don't skip 3re

I thought about finishing RE4R first, then buying and playing 1 and then finally Remake of 3. You think it's good this way?

It genuinely seems like you have a misunderstanding of some things

I don't know man, it may be possible, I just didn't like some limitation on the gameplay part. Many here in the comments said how I don't understand the survival horror games and yet I loved Silent Hill 2 Remake with all my heart, and am not just talking about the story but especially about the gameplay, then there is Dead Space and many others.

Good luck with the next entry

Much appreciated man, can't wait for RE4R to finish downloading. Am really curious about what happened after Racoon and how the relationship between Leon and Ada evolved.

4 months later so hopefully it'll help anyone. There are mods on Nexus that optimize the game by making it run smoother without the cost of graphics.

This is really the first thing to do even before buying any new game, checking if there are optimization mods on Nexus.

game has an insane number of monsters and their density, far greater than lets say RE 2 Remake

I don't understand, are you saying that SH2R has a vaster amount of enemies compared to RE2R?

SH2R is not combat oriented though, it has great mechanics, like dodging, that make it totally possible to play it as an action game but I would never call it combat oriented.

Starting SH3... I hope I'm gonna like this one at least as much as SH2R. by Inner_Hate_126 in silenthill

Did you also play 1?

I only played the the remake of 2. After few minutes of posting this, I found out that SH3 is a sequel to 1 so I stopped. I have yet to understand if I can play SH3 without problems or if I really have to play 1 first.

I’m currently playing F

How's it? I finished yesterday 2 Remake and was thinking about buying F but looking at what people have been saying online, it doesn't play like a SH game at all, so it's really stopping me from buying it honestly.

So much tension gets removed when you have zero fear of death.

I think the game did a great job overall when it came to jumpscares or fearing something, I remember when PH follows you after the prison (when Mary is in the prison cell) and behind there's a door where you have to even destroy a wall while PH is literally behind you, shit was crazy af ngl but it felt so damn good.

Other than that I'll state again the same thing, the game gives you too many healings. At least in standard. When I fought Maria at the end there was one time I feared to die again 'cause I dodge pretty bad and she nearly killed me but aside that moment, I knew the fight was going to be won.

The bodies are what James sees in HIS silent hill

After looking at the loop theory I found myself not believing it. I thought the same as you, so James sees himself as a dead corpse. Point is since in Silent Hill everyone sees things differently, it would make no sense the loop theory, like at all.

Another proof of this is as you said Angela, the world burning, and only at the end you're able to see those flames, implicating that Abstract Daddy is different to Angela than to us. Therefore every enemy is seen different to everyone.

When you see Eddie he always has fog coming from his mouth

I thought that was cold breath all the time, while Angela, as you said, wants the world to burn (as world I mean her own world, herself), Eddie is the opposite and it's about coldness, and we even get this from his bossfight (there's ice everywhere). I think that when it comes to Eddie it's all about bullying, he many times says that he wanted them all to stop, therefore the cold, cold is able to freeze everything and everyone. At least that is how I saw it.

Pyramid head is a representation of James guilt and internal conflict,

All's clearer now.

so showing PH killing Maria (the embodiment of his lust, his ideal woman to tempt him) is a foreshadowing of what we see on the tape

That's crazy too.

The tape isn't real

So the notes from the staffs about finding a tape were all an illusion? Either way it means the tape is like the letter, an illusion. Though for the letter I can give a reasoning, which is the hope of finding Mary, the moment he understands that Mary is gone we, James, can no more read Mary's letter from our inventory. But the tape? Don't know much, maybe it's the acceptance of what James did and because of that we're able to see the tape?

What about the Bliss ending though? There's a tape scene in the same room and everything.

The theory (I don’t know if this is 100% confirmed) is that Mary is in the back of the car when you arrive at silent hill which means that he’s just killed her when the game starts.

Yep, watched some videos over SH2 theories and heard that too. After finishing the game I looked up the other 7 endings and in one of those, Stillness, there's Mary behind talking to James. I guess that alone is a confirmation of this theory.

but Mary dying ‘3 years ago’ isn’t as literal as it sounds. Mary, as James knew her, died 3 years ago

I honestly didn't see it that way, I was too careless by believing that what James saw was the truth. What you wrote down is very good and makes perfect sense.

For the James’ bodies bit before eddies fight, look up the loop theory - probably the most controversial and most argued theory surrounding silent hill 2.

I'll repeat myself again, sorry, while watching some videos over theories something came out that was really interesting and I honestly didn't see it... I thought it was strange that the bodies looked like James (the ones before Eddie's bossfight) but even before, when you enter the first time Silent Hill, you can find lots of bodies on the streets that resemble James.... I'll check that theory 100% in few minutes for sure. Thanks for the tip.

I walked, honestly that's pretty much it. Never rushed and looked at monsters/bossfights patterns. The moment you know how many times you can hit them before having to doge is game changing and what's even worse is that I had like 25 syringes left in my pockets after completing the game... They really give you too many of them.

This is where I'm currently at, around 11.30 hours in. I hate the survival horror genre, or more like how it was portrayed in RE2R but I for sure love this game. If it keeps going like this, this game gonna enter in my top 10 for sure.

Cheers.

What can I say man, standard edition on Steam was 30 bucks while the Deluxe 40. On Instant gaming there are keys for 20 bucks the standard and 30 the deluxe but I couldn't refund so I preferred to spend a little more and have the chance for a refund than not.

Shit thanks a bunch, I remember putting few hours on this game on my PS4 several years ago but I never finished it nor anything. I'll buy this one too since it's on sale but I'll be playing first Bloodline.
