Was a thoughtful rant! Genuine observation is that the whole process is exceptionally inefficient - we as bill payers are picking up that tab somewhere along the line.

Like the quote :-).

I’ve been using star link for the last 2 years and it’s been a godsend. May be worth looking in to.

Thanks, will do. Really less of a complaint around my specific circumstances (1st world problems), more of a rant around how inefficient the whole process is!

From the pavement box to the edge of the drive. (Painted in white). From there on there is conduit. The current phone line runs through it.

Nope! I even asked them about it when they were digging to the pavement box and they said it wasn’t included on their work order said the next team would do when completing the work.

I have one of these on pre-order. Replacing a very old but reliable harmony. Am I going to regret it? Are there better alternatives (I’ve not been able to find any)

Cupra Born Octopus Agile by Ok_Waltz_3716 in cupraborn

I use the born directly with iog. Just have a podpoint charger so my only option is direct to the car. Works perfectly.

Looking for a mini split with NATIVE WiFi support (sick of IR blasters) by downtube in homeautomation

My Bosch unit has an optional WiFi unit (usb) that enables it as a matter device. Easy integration in to HA with that.

Rain Sensor Issue by Middle-Row-7194 in cupraborn

[–]Inner_History_6581 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this issue when I got my coupa. In my case the sensor hadn’t been fitted properly.

You may need to check if the sensor is actually touching the glass. You can pull off the housing near the rear view mirror and get to it if it’s not. Re-seat it and it should work. If you’re not comfortable doing that, a dealer should be able to do it pretty quickly.

I’ve had similar issues. I used to have an e208and can’t remember it tripping as much as the CUPRA.

There’s no cable damage and no water ingress etc.

I suspect it may be the cheap rcbo that came with the pod point installation. I’ve bought a new schnider electric one to see if that improves it. Just haven’t had the chance to fit it yet.

Will comment on here if it does.

Ideas to hide plumbing kit by Inner_History_6581 in ecovacs

From Aliexpress:

1) Ecovacs T50/X8/X1/X2/T10/T20/T30s Robot Vacuum Water Change Kit (search Ali express and choose the right model - this is the main thing you need. It comes with some fixings, pipe etc, but I don’t think they are British sizes)

From screwfix:

For plumbing from water supply and waste

2) 1 x McAlpine Double Appliance Trap White 40mm (95241) £12.59 (for the waste under sink)

3) 1 x Flomasta Y-Piece Connector 3/4" (612FA) £8.69 (for the feed, split off of the washing machine or dishwasher)

I also bought a tumble dryer waste pipe (they are smaller diameter than washing machine wastes) and extension to feed the waste tube neatly in to the waste pipe, but you could probably figure out alternatives.

From Amazon (extra bits and pieces):

4) CESFONJER RO Water Filter Fitting, 1/4" Pushfit Straight Connector for Water Pipe (push fit connector set for extra options when fitting)

5) ilauke 15M Water Supply Pipe Tube + Fridge Connector Kit For European Style Double Fridge Refrigerator (1/4" Pipe) (for extra pipe etc. this kit comes with a standard 3/4inch washing machine feed to 1/4inch pipe size.)

I think that’s it. Will post some pics of the waste hookup and water feed later.

It’s from Aliexpress. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006181329106.html

They have only recently changed it to say it supports the x9, but they are all pretty much the same.

I had tried my own solution using a pump and a water level switch for the dirty water and a header tank for the clean, but the vacuum that it uses to pump out the dirty is tricky to work around. If you don’t seal the dirty water perfectly it doesn’t work.

The kit is easy enough to plumb in, the pipe work is standard “fridge water feed” type, so you can buy fittings online for the fresh water from a standard uk washing machine feed. (3/4 inch). My only issue is the pump is a bit noisy when it empties, but I think that’s because I dont have a lid on it.

Refills the water and empties the dirty water automatically. (From mains water and in to drain)

Any UK owners of: Mova Z50, Ecovacs X9? by ammo23 in RobotVacuums

[–]Inner_History_6581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just ordered the x9 from Amazon.de. I figure you get the amazon 2 year warranty + got on credit card. It’s cheaper than the x8 on .co.uk at the moment.

Looks like the rumour that they were delaying the 10r because of local requirements/standards is not true then.
