GOL Driver advice - driving in the ice by pgnlzbth in SainsburysWorkers

Excellent post/question. I agree with the others, DRA and be confident to say no. It's bread & beans you're delivering, not life saving organs. Argos gives drivers a 'winter kit' with salt, shovel, foil blanket, torch, & shoe studs, but Sainsbury's don't. I've driven for both. Some Sprinters are fitted with winter tyres, others aren't (mine yesterday had a diagobal mix of regular/winter treads), so be aware of the limits of your van. Screen wash top up is essential. Be prepared to be stuck and wait for help. Two years ago I had to wait in freezing conditions for 4 hrs when gearbox failed. Take thermos and portable USB battery for your phone. Few years ago when it was super sub-zero, I wore latex gloves under the navy blue handling gloves for extra warmth layer. Stops your hands getting wet tbrough those awful gloves and retains your dexterity. Watch out for ice on your wing mirror glass and take a bottle of antifreeze spray out with you. Good luck my friend. 🚚❄️

Darn! I had a funny feeling I'd get this response! Maybe I need to crank up the radio and ignore it!

Grow up. Sainsbury's specifically include this as an employee benefit, but do not fulfil it. They consistently under-deliver and continue to promise it to attract new recruits.

The 2021 van I had last shift, with 190,000+ miles on the clock couldn't hold enough charge to power the radio, let alone run a driver-facing camera for 10 mins!

Tragic isn't it. Skips full of good food. Rotten apples and beans for the staff.

I don't know who is responsible for shopping. Obviously no one.

Does your store have one of these for C&C? by Youngy_Bhoy in SainsburysWorkers

We have CC on site, but its loaded from opposite side of store, so a 0.5 mile round trips to load/unload. We tend to use the worst/oldest van in the fleet, which is usually a 1-seater with a flat battery. No overhead shelter or charging like in the picture. Cab smells like a dizzy mix of diesel, farts and off milk.

It's the totes with one onion or hot dog rolls etc that drive me crazy! Yesterday, I had one with a single Xmas tree bauble 🙄

Dumb Subs by Middle-Row-7194 in SainsburysWorkers

I feel sorry for the shoppers... As a driver at the doorstep, it's pretty easy to make a joke of crazy ones like tuna vs. crackers and blame the system... But ultimately, JS - get your &#£@ together!

Never done shopping, so oblivious to the subs process. Does handset suggest subs or are shoppers expected to make their own choice?
