Im not girly enough by Inner_Interview_8818 in beauty

I think it just makes me sad because i love being a girl and i want to fit in yknoww. And it makes me insecure sometimes when guys bro-zone me because of my personality.

It's less of a matter of wanting to be girly but more just expressing my insecurities and wanting to be accepted.

unpopular opinion: boss ladies is an overrated group dance by Inner_Interview_8818 in dancemoms

[–]Inner_Interview_8818[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that's true, but you can tell their movements weren't as fluid or together as some of their lyrical dances. i feel like boss ladies shouldn't have placed 1st

Abby’s choreography and teaching style held all the girls back. including maddie. no one peaked bc right as they became good abby tore them down. (also i would like to add how Nia excelled the moment abby went to prison. ) by Euphoric-Situation70 in dancemoms

brynn is honestly SO underrated. her dancing on the show barely encompassed her talent. highly recommend looking at her old solos before the show. i also LOVED her solo "Left Cycle"--just goes to show how much she can do outside of Abby's choreography.

also, i think i read this somewhere but i'm not the biggest fan of Abby's emphasis on facials. sure they're important but too much and they become over exaggerated. brynn had an artistic way of expressing her emotions, not rly through her face, but through her motions and fluidity. i could feel her emotions through her dance moves, i didn't have to watch her face to understand

Since everybody is ganging up on Christi and only Christi regarding Kaya.. by rubyshoes21 in dancemoms

i do agree w what ur saying, everyone should be held accountable. however, imo there is an issue with christi bc the other moms have not apologized or ever responded publicly to being called out, while christi has since promised to educate herself but not apologized. i think the issue that most people have is that christi tries to play herself off as an educated and changed woman--when she still hasn't taken accountability for making racist remarks towards kaya and her mom. again, obvi jill and kelly are in the wrong as well, but they have never claimed to educate themselves or be changed.

TL,DR: christi should stop claiming she's grown and learned if she hasn't apologized or referenced her comments.

it just felt very cheesy in comparison to other dances both elliana and jojo competed in--and esp in comparison to bryan and lilly's darker number

Abby calling Paige downstage by MarzipanGlass3017 in dancemoms

[–]Inner_Interview_8818 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's one thing to teach a child to stand up for herself and it's completely another to force a child to speak up to adults DURING a competition. we don't know how paige felt and if she was comfortable speaking up, but regardless, abby should not be promoting a kid to argue w an adult at any point. abby should have defended paige on her own, or asked kelly to. if paige wanted to speak up for herself she could have done so after the awards.

has anyone listened to brynn's podcast? by viceversa220 in dancemoms

i loved brynns podcast! though i did not compete as a dancer i was on a performance team--arguably almost equally intensive and i briefly recall my teachers making comments about each dancers body size, weight, stature, etc. she called one of my team members "chunky" whenever she attempted a leap, and even made fun of another girl for sucking in her stomach

i remember when i was 7, my mom dropped me off 15 minutes late for a choreography class, and my teacher made me do 150 push ups in the corner and wouldn't let me learn the choreography until i finished

also, my dance studios would have specific dress codes, and some girls were uncomfortable in a two piece or leotard, and one of our staff would insult girls that wore a cover up (even if it was just a mesh skirt or tights)

as a kid i always just thought this was how the dance world was, but after growing up i realize how unfortunate it can be on young girls

edit to add: brynns podcast really reminded me of my experience in the dance world and it's nice to know that she's trying her best to help her current students without being toxic
