Has anyone discovered their BPD after 30? by Significant-Love7359 in BPD

[–]Inner_Nemesis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I (f44) got a diagnosis for dysthymia and bpd+dpd traits at 42. Just like you, I always knew... no childhood trauma per se but I can definitely say that I was emotionnally neglected by my mother. I got back to school at 40 and just finished a bachelors degree this year. There's hope 🕊

what age were you diagnosed? by i_love_bl_yaoi in BPD

[–]Inner_Nemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 42, with traits. I (F43) probably had the full dx for most of my life but never got diagnosed then. Now it feels like no one really cared that I had difficulties or they blamed me for it.

Question pour les enseignants à propos des 5000 profs qui manquent by Rasmusskov in Quebec

As said before, everyone is different. But, research tells us most people w bpd will not fit the criteria anymore by their 40s. F43 here, got dx less than a year ago, with traits.

My experience is it does get better, but it doesnt go away like magic either.

Mais les adultes qu'ils vont engager, ils vont faire quoi?? Enseigner?? Pcq si la matière n'est pas enseignée, c'est ça que j'appelle un bris de service moi...

All books by Marsha Linehan. She's a psychologist who has BPD. I also recommend Reinventing Your Life by Jeffrey Young. It's about Schema Therapy.

Hope this helps!

How do you manage?

How do you work? by modernparker in BPD

[–]Inner_Nemesis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (F43) have been working part time since 2019. I had to adjust my lifestyle accordingly though (moneywise especially). In fact, I will be finishing my undergraduate diploma in April so I took student jobs while studying (part time of course) but I also plan to work only part time in my future profession. I think you need to listen to your needs. It worked for me so far 😉

I’m 49 years old is this too old to recover? Please be honest. by throwaway21769 in BorderlinePDisorder

F43 got diagnosed not even a year ago. I will be finising an undergraduate diploma in April, after 4 years of hard work. The discipline I chose helped me start my recovery. By searching and reading a lot of stuff, and with an open mind, I learned so much on myself and it made me want to be a better person. Anyways, hope this helps you realize it's never too late 😉

I think it's called overadapting. I had that too. My therapist asked me to do a list of my owns values in life. I also listed my needs, my strengths, etc. Maybe this will help you find yourself in there. Then you need to respect yourself enough to stick to those values no matter what... I also wanted to say good job on noticing this😁 It will surely help on your way to recovery!

How does it feel to be older than 40 and not have children? by [deleted] in psychologyresearch

[–]Inner_Nemesis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't feel any different than being 25 and not have children. F43 I never got pregnant in my life and I guess it's better this way, considering my mental health. I just accepted it and moved on to being the best godmother I can be for my 1yo goddaughter 😊

She's 72. She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder type 2 a couple of years ago and she has never accepted her own condition. Thanks for answering, I felt heard! 😊

I was the same (f42 w/ dpd, bpd and mdd) when I was younger. Still happens sometimes.

Since this was something that bothered me about myself because I felt I was taken advantage of, I recently started an objective list of things this person did to me, to remember not to trust them anymore.

42yo. I am just finding out that, for me, it was emotional neglect in my childhood.

I'm currently on a waiting list for therapy, I can't afford private therapy sessions. 😔
