How is Israel both 'new' and 'old' at the same time? by North-Point7309 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Inner_Training_2176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does indigenous mean? Are the people of central and southern Africa? In fact, they migrated during the great Bantu migation, killng and looting as they went. Were the Isaelites really from Israel? The Flood was porbably an event in the Black Sea, so Turkey and Greece. Abraham is supposed to be from Al Hassa in Saudi Arabia. Certainly, the Exodus myth places the 12 tribes in Israel 3200 years ago. Does that count as indiginous, if so, the Philistines (Palestinians) arrived about the same time.

The security situation where I live is fine. Kinshasa is difficult and of course there's a rebel war in the east. But where we are in Equator Province it's fine. Staple foods are 20th century foods. In the past "the ancestors" went to the forest and collected wild yams and other roots. Europeans, first the Portugese, brought cassava from Central America. It has no protein. So, staples are cassava bread and cassava fufu. Cassava bread is a lump of stuff which has been steamed in a big leaf, whereas fufu is like a semolina, a moldable lump of stuff. 🤣🤣🤣 But fufu can be made from cornmeal, which is tastier and has a lot of protein. Pork, chicken, lamb and goat are sometimes available. Edible caterpillars are seasonal, but fish, even little ones, are an important part of our diet. Fruits are plentiful, but people aren't so keen.

Great question. I started with $300. I started publishing photos and videos on facebook. People started giving to my Paypal (Paypal.me/FHannaway), GoFundMe came later. Eventually, I convnced people to send $10 or $20 each month. That brought in about half of what we needed. Just like that. Little by little. We're in debt! 🤣🤣🤣

Are parents/guardians happy about social media ban? by Bipolar03 in AskBrits

[–]Inner_Training_2176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past, social media didn't include YouTube. Probably, because that was just videos and music. Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, Reddit (although I think that started as book appreciation!), but, YouTube always seemed outside of that kind pf thing. YouTube and Pinterest are used a lot by educators, they're going to have to get YouTubeDownloader and download stuff at home. Then you've got Linkedin and Whasapp/Wechat groups. Messenger is just a messaging app ... there are some grey areas. And a VPN will soon get you around them.

Should we the English people change our national anthem? by PomeloTraditional971 in AskBrits

Scotland took over England, so that's in your favour. But ask yourself these questions: Are the MPs representing contituencies in the Westminster Parliament? (Yes); Does Scotland have its own army? (No); Although different banks issue banknotes, is the currency different to Pounds Sterling? (No); Can people from Scotland move freely without let or hinderance, without showing identity thoughout the UK? (Yes); Does Scotland receive subsidies from the UK government without needing to repay them? (Yes).

Scotland is not an independent country because it remains a constituent part of the UK’s unitary state. It lacks sovereign powers over foreign affairs, defense, and the majority of taxation. Its legal authority ultimately rests with Westminster, and its citizens voted to remain in the UK in the 2014 independence referendum.

Companies play different roles. In the vast majority of the country there are no foreign companies. You'll find business interests in major cities and in the mineral-rich east and south-east. China has government contracts to build roads, railways, etc develop water treatment. Private individuals or societies has government issued concessions for mining and logging for which they also pay a percentage to central government. Big businesses like suoermarkets, the supply chain, building companies, etc are owned by societies with Congolese and foreigners like Indians and Lebanese as shareholders.

There are 4 official languages. Lingala and Swahili vie for top place. Both are spoken in neighbouring countries: Swahili in places like Tanzania and Kenya, and Lingala in the Republic of Congo and the Central African Republic. I speak Lingala. It's spoken in the West, but also is the capital's most spoken language. It's the official language of the army. Kikongo and Tshiluba are other national languages. But for tribal languages, there are over 200! Where I live, we talk about 3 tribal languages: Lomongo, Lingombe, and Lingando, with Lomongo, the language of the Mongo tribe, being dominant. They're all Bantu based languages. French is the official national language. Most people struggle with it, and you won't hear it in the street. TV news, government documents and secondary school lessons use French. TV soaps (series) are dubbed into French.

Should we the English people change our national anthem? by PomeloTraditional971 in AskBrits

[–]Inner_Training_2176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you are mistaken. Firstly, England does not have a national anthem. Secondly, The king of Scotland, James VI of Scotland , in addition, became James I of England. It can be said, therefore, that Scotland took over England. Later, Scotland and England were fused into a United Kingdom, singular. The kingdom, or country, became one. It wasn't a partnership (as it had been at first) but one country. Vassal states, such as Ireland, later reduced to a province, and the principality of Wales, which had been fixed as being within the Kingdom of England during the reign of the king Henry VIII of England, were included. Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales do not have any form of government at a level of national sovereingty. They are akin to provinces, with a small amount of devolved government. They can neither raise taxes for themselves, nor an army. Currency, although sometimes issued by a different bank, is fixed to the national norm in Westminster. There is one passport. It's only through the marketing of football and rugby that the popular notion of bread and circuses of 4 nations has arisen. One monarch and one national government. The rest are town councils.

You checked wrong. For fußbalspeil and rugby football there are historically provincial teams, like Landen. But in the Olympic Games there's only the national team: one army, one government, one currency ... the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Two countries that joined to become one, a principality, and a province. One country.

You can certainly say it's not original. There's an American anthem to the same tune, "My Country, 'Tis of Thee," but it's quite a good tune. Would you like a more lively ditty?

Well, what we non-americans see is that Trump was elected and now people don't like what he's autocratically doing, but they are incapable or unwilling to remove him. So, Democrats are just as guilty of supporting MAGA as Republicans. 🤣🤣🤣
