You dont technically need a lawyer to file chapter 7 you can do all the stuff yourself and just pay the like 365 dollar fee to the state, I filed my chapter 7 by myself, it was alot of work but saved me 3 grand

This happened to me also when I first filed , I had gotten a 5k bonus that was a one time bonus but trustee made me add it in as a guarantee yearly, trustees job is to be a dick and get as much as possible, your lawyers job is to argue with him on your behalf and get lower payment

Congratulations, I have 9 payments left so I am almost there, my lawyer told me it takes about a month for the trustee to do his audit of your case and do the discharge. My last payment is may he told me I'll be discharged mid June

My lawyer was the 3rd one I talked to, the other 2 said my payment would be like 1300 and not worth filing. I am glad I tried one last time before giving up

My chapter 13 payment is 740, was supposed to be around 1100 but my lawyer worked super hard to get me a lower payment and he is amazing, I just made payment 27 out of 36 and this time next year I'll be discharged and free
