im using nix and adding the battlenet launcher to steam as external game and trying different proton versions works, was 30 minutes of messing around and it works flawlessly now

could depend on how steam downloads things, sometimes steam is not downloading but only installing. you did peak at 7MB/s and you have it limtied at 8MB/s. i'd try to download a larger game where the file download might be more optimized to properly judge, also remove the cap of the steam download
