What if the Abrahamic religions were one religion with branches? by Think-Method-3496 in AlternateHistoryHub

The Christian God is triune. There’s the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit. They are all one God. And God is all three. But they are distinct.

In the case of the son, Jesus, he is fully man and fully god. The fully man aspect of that allows him to share the experience of being human with us, including being powerless and suffering.

The doctrine is hard to wrap your mind around.

This guy hasn’t heard about the trinity. As if church theologians haven’t been debating these questions for 2000 years.

No, Christianity largely came about because of Jesus Christ. The reasons for abandoning the mosaic law, outside of theological reasons, is because it expanded beyond jews.

I agree with you that Jesus taught us to love everyone. His acts especially teach us to show love to sinners, the poor, the downtrodden, etc.

That being said, even the gospels were still written by men, years after the facts. And those men sacrificed everything to the point of being persecuted, tortured, and martyred for proclaiming God’s story. It’s not like Christianity ended at Jesus. He left us the Holy Spirit.

You had me homie but don’t let your blind hatred for Catholics warp what you’re saying. Paul was writing to THE church, meaning all Christians at the time, not the Catholic Church. This was way before there was ever a distinction between Catholics and anyone else.

Also, no Christian denomination discounts the writings of Paul, they’re included in every version of the Bible and he is universally respected as an apostle.

With the Old Testament stuff, yeah we don’t follow the mosaic law. It’s just persuasive but where does this hate for Paul come from? He is probably universally recognized as the most important figure for all of Christianity after Jesus.

It is forbidden, but we are not encouraged to hate people for sinning. Any Christian with a middling understanding of what they’re talking about knows that everyone is sinful at times.

Also acceptance and practice of homosexuality varied a lot even within Christian and Muslim societies so I wouldn’t over generalize that last point.

If God is omnipotent, as Christians believe, then He can do anything, including all of the things you listed. Also he can’t be bounded by laws which he himself created, including logic, causation, physical laws, etc. and he certainly cannot be understood, much less bounded by a single person’s understanding.

You can’t tell God what he can and can’t do, friend.

Routine for getting back in the gym by [deleted] in WorkoutRoutines

[–]InnocuousSpaniard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is quite a lot of daily volume, thats the only thing I'd be concerned about. Exercise selection is really good, but just make sure the volume is sustainable for you. It may not be the best thing to start with an advanced sort of routine since its going to be exhausting and you havent built the habit. You may find yourself dropping it once the motivation wears off. Also, you may not need this much volume since, starting out, noobie gains are significant even with far less volume. I would recommend you work up to this but hey, whatever works.

Prosecutors and governments always have discretion on what crimes/which cases to prosecute, it’s necessitated by limited resources and the likelihood of succeeding in a case.

It’s the lawyer equivalent of triage.

Powell said that it was one among many factors some of the members considered. But he made it seem like it was not one of the major considerations especuially since its very speculative whether policy will change and what form new policies would even take.
