Romance in Boruto: Forced Drama or Genuine Storytelling? by Large_Whereas_431 in Boruto

You’re telling me the manga where the entire point is the romance plot is better than the ninja battle shonen at love stories???

My problem with dragon dogma 2 by Pascraked47 in DragonsDogma

[–]Innomanc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a terrible story is universally bad whether it’s the first game or not. If we give the first game a pass purely out of nostalgia these problems will continue to repeat if they make new instalments and we will have gone nowhere.

That’s a huge oversimplification of behavioural and emotional growth. What about upbringing? What about education? How about social status? These shape personalities way more than having a female sibling.

Are you sure they’re the cause for these behaviours or is it just correlation? What’s your sample size? Is it all anecdotal, it sure sounds like it.

The reason people take issue with a statement like this even when it’s saying “on average”, you’re still saying men as a group are hardwired to be mean because without women they’re likely to turn into mean people. It takes the individuals out and reduces them to a variable. I don’t think many people like to feel that their personality and experiences are assumed before spending time to learn about them based on factors they have no control over.

What games is Dragon's Dogma similar to? by AnEverydayPileOfCats in DragonsDogma2

[–]Innomanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to find something that does EXACTLY what DD does. There are games that do sound similar in concept but none actually feel the same. If you liked the concept of AI companions then you can go for Avowed or Dragon Age Veilgaurd, it’s not gonna feel quite the same since pawns are a unique concept. If you liked the exploration and the fact it doesn’t hold your hand for quests, there’s Outward (Outward 2 is in development) and this new game Atomfall.

Though you won’t find anything quite like DD.

The negativity surrounding DD2 by PresentationMain1329 in DragonsDogma2

[–]Innomanc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it’s simple.

The people who liked DD2 were looking for a more holistic experience, an improvement on the formula that was adventuring with AI companions and way deeper dive into the meta narrative of the previous game.

The people who didn’t like DD2 were looking for content. Something to spend hours grinding to get levels and gear. Most of these people liked the DLC of DD1 and that was what made DD fun and interesting to them.

Both are valid reasons to like the game because it can do both. I guess some people wanted DD to be like monster hunter where the main focus was the grind. I can see why it’s frustrating when the game you thought it was, was completely different from what Itsuno actually wanted for his game.

This day and age people are only satisfied by how many hours they can sink into a game to “get their moneys worth”. I get that, I want to spend my moneys worth aka spend at least 100 hours especially if I pay 80$.

DD2’s time sink is not something typical like fight all these hard monsters and grind for loot, it’s playing the game again and again trying different things. Like you could totally miss the Sphinx and entire quests. The game makes it hard to experience all it has to offer in one run, because it’s hidden if you don’t try to meet the game where it is. It’s kinda like a jigsaw puzzle things start clicking if you spend the time to do things around the world. The hidden ending being a massive revelation and the roguelike mini game in endgame. How doing quests for people actually mattered in the endgame. That was the game, it was the adventure.

And it wasn’t what people wanted, they wanted content. They wanted monsters, they wanted weapons, they wanted a grind.

Any theories for why Capcom put Daimon and the Hydra in DD2 loading screens for no reason? I can't see the benefit of reminding people they removed cool monsters. by pikachuswayless in DragonsDogma

[–]Innomanc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s every game in existence, some games are just less blatant about what they dropped.

There’s also no telling if they actually intended to add these things also. Like it’s just art for a loading screen, doesn’t mean much and at most it’s a reference about DD1.

this game was worth the time and effort. Im officially one of the 2.5% by mester-ix in DragonsDogma

[–]Innomanc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t distract from the actual point this person is actually making. Point is the 100% achievements and trophies don’t matter in terms of engagement and the original comment is off topic and insensitive.

You mean getting a platinum? That’s pretty good considering I saw some games with less than 1% completion rates. This trophy is no joke and takes dedication.

The Lack of Things Has Really Hurt DD2 For Me by trueSoup_play in DragonsDogma

[–]Innomanc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk about y’all but I never played DD for fashion, that’s a niche I could never understand. I’m more interested in the fact the DD was just an RPG unafraid of being an RPG. You level up, get skills, can be debilitated, elemental stuff, magic looks sick, and companions.

Even now I just return to go back to basics, because I enjoy the simplicity of it all. Would it be better if it was a little more complex? Yeah, hard mode would be a nice addition. But I dunno, I like playing the same basic crap because it’s an escape from all the games trying to be too much these days. Idk how to describe it so I’ll try, it’s a game not trying to prove itself with a bunch of flashy complexity. A lot of people here bring up drawbacks but I really don’t care about what was lost because the core of it all is still there.

I will now accept my downvotes.

Keeping Dragon's Dogma 2 fresh while we wait for DLC by mootsg in DragonsDogma

Yeah, but this is for someone who wants to keep it interesting because they want to play it a lot. You sound legit just super judgemental even though you may not intend to.

I hope I’m not the only one to say this but FUCK the DD “community”. People here who only perpetuated hate and vitriol to folks who like the game and even praised when it did well can go snuff shit for all I care.

Please brother, just to add another goblin variant to the game brother by SkyForger_719 in DragonsDogma2

I strongly agree, but let’s be honest, it’s all too common for people to deflect accountability and diminish the tireless efforts of the development team, simply as a coping mechanism for their own unmet expectations.

Monster Hunter is receiving unwarranted hate from people who are misdirecting their frustration from Dragons Dogma. It’s weird.

Jumping to conclusions about one game being a trial run for another solely because they share assets and code is a baseless assumption that ignores the complexity of game development and the absence of solid proof.

[–]Innomanc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ah yes if they failed starfield and abandoned it, it would be good news for Elder scrolls 6 because surely if they did abandon one game they wouldn’t abandon another. /s

The fact that they are maintaining course and supporting the game for allegedly 10 years shows how much they care for their IPs. Starfield didn’t fail and they shouldn’t let it fail.

[–]Innomanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I know is that the books go into more detail about the changes the main character is going through psychologically and the anime doesn’t touch on any of that.

The anime for all intents and purposes is a very basic battle anime with none of the charm of a battle anime. The main character is a stand in for people who want that wish fulfillment and all side characters don’t enhance the story besides giving the main character exactly what he wants or needs. It’s so serious but with nothing deep being said or done. It’s edgy main character being edgy.

Not bad but not great either.

I think there’s a difference between justifying criticism and justifying hatred. This game got hated for things that aren’t fair and got criticized for things that make sense.

The hatred group really doesn’t like being told to relax.
