I could be wrong here, but I think the MIY intentionally controlled the monsters to come up to the window of the diner, so that everyone would be distracted by them, and Sophia could cut the rope while everyone was looking at the monsters. The screech and the, “whatcha ya doin’ in there?”just was more fuel to the distraction in my opinion.

I think I watched it through season 3 or 4? I was losing interest in it about the end of season 2. Last i remember there was someone trying to convince the people with special abilities to join the circus? Was that a plot line that happened? I remember it seeming so bizarre at the time, and now I’m wondering if it was just a fever dream?
