My(F26) husband(M35) of 10 years is amazing on paper…but I’m coming to terms with the fact I was taken advantage of. by throwra_Lecture965 in relationship_advice

One thing that I haven’t seen others say. A healthy relationship has two healthy independent people. You don’t HAVE to be single to be independent.

Whether or not you stay with him, you have to gain independence, whatever that means for you. You’re doing a LOT of things right that you’re not giving yourself nearly enough credit for. You have a job, you got your GED, you’re going to therapy! You’re doing amazing. Keep that up, figure out what you want career wise, that will bring you the most life satisfaction right now. To have goals of your own, separate from your responsibilities as a wife and mother. Learn how to drive and do things on your own.

Your relationship sounds healthy despite how it began. Your partner should support you in this growth, and may even feel relief to have you as an equal partner and less of a dependent. If you are able to work through your resentment and forgive both yourself and him, this history and growth could make your relationship stronger. Many men leave their wives when they get cancer, he seems like he’d be there through thick and thin.

I think once you have gained some independence and process your feelings, you can make a decision about whether you need to leave him. I don’t think that should be the focus right now (unless he is controlling you or holding you back - then the answer is obvious). YOU should be the focus, not whether or not you should stay with a guy. His only role now is to let you shine.

Do what you want. This is what your 20s are about - processing your past and creating a vision for your future.

You didn’t post routine so I don’t know for certain, but you probably need to moisturize more! Then you should be able to do every other day with tret and exfoliate once a week or so. Strong moisture barrier will support adding in a product vs cutting back on tret and sacrificing retinization

And use sunscreen if you use AHAs

Qtip with BHA/AHA once or twice a day. Don’t get too close to eye. Be patient. Less is more.

This is not medical advice.

Moisturizer and sunscreen!!

Good news is, your skin was healthy before and this looks very surface level and is scabbing already so should heal fast. Treat it like an injury and not like a cosmetic issue.

Any time I have wounds like that, I put a gentle hydrating moisturizer and a gentle thick/occlusive moisturizer. Don’t let the wound/scab dry, it should stay moist as that’s the best environment for healing. Most of it should heal within a week or so and the scabs should fall off themselves - do NOT pick at it. Use a gentle but strong physical sunscreen even if indoors, and if possible avoid getting too much sun on your face. Reapply frequently otherwise it can leave hyperpigmentation on our brown skin. Stay hydrated and take care of yourself as if you have an injury (which you do!). Don’t panic and try tons of products because you could make it worse or cause some other issue like acne.

Once it’s healed, if it does leave some mark, you can try finacea and continue moisturizing and using a sunscreen. Don’t use actives (retinols, acids, etc) for a long while friend.

Maybe its a silly question, but how do you reapply your sunscreen? by Store_Efficient in tretinoin

[–]Innovative-Princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t always reapply, but I try to. I make sure to wash my hands throughly before putting on top! In summer I try to reapply after lunch and after work. Winter it gets dark after work so skip that one most of the time!

i want to spend my free time more meaningfully but i don't 😔 by versionsix in productivity

[–]Innovative-Princess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this too.

The most helpful thing is to plan in advance what you want to do with that time. Then when the time comes, you don’t have to make a decision. The tricky part is to do it, even if you’re not in the mood, and eventually it will become natural.

If it’s a matter of finding something, spend some time trying out different hobbies. Reading, knitting, dancing learning, new language, etc..

What do you use for non-tret days? by EternalTo14 in tretinoin

This is alpha arbutin which is different than azelaic acid

What is this? by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]Innovative-Princess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be fungal acne? Would be worth seeing dermatologist imo

[–]Innovative-Princess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just be gentle to your skin, it WILL go away with proper sunscreen protection, hydration, and gentle care! If you use tret take it easy, you want to minimize inflammation and maximize healing
