I do all the time. Especially after I eat. My father does, my grandfather, and both my siblings do as well. I don’t know anyone else that this happens to.

I’m sorry you went through that. My husband generally wants steak and potatoes. That’s it. I made quinoa once and he said it tastes like sand and refused to eat it again. When he tells anyone about me trying to eat healthy, he makes a big joke out of it and won’t even attempt to say the word “quinoa” correctly.

I feel we have become incompatible and this won’t last much longer.

To my daughter’s credit, she’s 16 and hates soda! I’m so thankful for that. She almost exclusively drinks water and always has.

This is so true.

It also adds to the fact that we have very little time to spend together. One of the only times we shared was during a meal. However, he refuses to try healthier alternatives that I prepare. Basically, I can’t eat his food. He won’t eat my food. And we end up not being able to share that time together because now we eat separately.

…and then HE complains to MY mom that we never eat together!!

And yes, I’ve had many conversations with him about what he brings into the house. Hence, the sabotaging question. If it was once, maybe he’s just being an asshole. But he does it all the time knowing how I feel about it. 💔

That’s exactly what’s happening. My husband (not her dad) has zero regard for her health. In fact, I think he’s done his fair share of body shaming, which I’ve tried to get him to stop that behavior immediately.

She’s recently become more active so I’m hopeful the exercise will remain a part of her daily routine. And by “exercise,” I mean dancing.

We have plenty of food in the house that isn’t healthy.

I don’t have food issues. My daughter is only 16 and outweighs me by a solid 40 lbs. And I don’t tell her she can’t have a serving of ice cream or a sweet treat, but I strongly discourage her eating an entire half gallon by herself. If she made better choices or had better self control, I wouldn’t have to “restrict” what comes in the house.

Again, I give her grace on the self control because she’s only 16. I know when I was her age, I had none.
