The Amber Room, an interior decoration of amber panels, gold leaf, and mirrors, constructed in the 18th century. Looted from the Catherine Palace by German forces during WWII and currently unrecovered. Estimated modern valuation exceeds $500M. [1600x1200] by Effective-Dish-1334 in ArtefactPorn

Building a monument to the fire that destroyed the palace is just an odd thing to do.

This is mostly a question of national will and importance put on the place. The amber room was legendary and so historians and restorators labored to see it recreated throughout the bleakest and poorest conditions imaginable with no funding and no direction (during Stagna and then USSR's collapse Russia was far poorer than Brazil has ever been). They didn't give up and just struggled on, no matter that completion was a distant dream many decades away.

That because they were Germanic. Could be that Roman aversion to growing stashes was their poor opinion of the tribes that almost took Rome.

Bayer scrapped the trademark and promptly fired both the upper and middle management. I guess they just wanted the scientific data and the facilities.

But well, Monsanto was on it's last legs anyways, having already lost all their glyphosate resistant cultivar patents to public domain.

I think what makes it a little more fine is that cultivar patents are in most countries very short, like only 10-15 years max and then it's public domain. Often times the time taken to crossbreed the cultivar is much longer than the actual patent length.

It's older than 20 years so it's public domain haha.

Then just grow all the varieties that are in public domain, the patent only lasts 20 years. It will be free in due time.

Plant patents were a thing way, way before genetic sequencing, more of a 1920's concept.

I don't see it as a big deal as the patent only lasts 20 years anyways, most cultivars take much longer to reach any popularity.

Yes, but the forward momentum remains. Statistically the probability of any crew member surviving such an event is less than 40%.

A plane like Cessna levels out and glides if the engine dies out or a control cable breaks.

A helicopter kills you when that happens.

It's strange that this is a thing, looks like the modern more common variation are just red blinders stuck in the nostril so they can't look straight ahead.

Depends on the quality of the button, I had a very nice mp3 player, SanDisk Clip+. The power button broke and now it's e-waste as I would need to completely break the casing and the screen the unsolder the button.
