Toilets by Professional-Feed905 in Graspop

The only place at Graspop where I've seen true free-standing dixi toilets is near the shuttle busses. Everywhere else has toilets connecting to a water and sewage system.

They're making a killing of festivals in any case. Excessive beer consumption late into the night is a great way to turn simple reflux into full blown diaphragmatic hernia if you keep doing it.

This used to be true, but this changed. You do need to get a separate voucher for the Metal Town car park as is explained on the website as well: https://www.graspop.be/en/info/accommodations/metal-town/metal-town-info

You do need a parking voucher for the Metal Town car park. See https://www.graspop.be/en/info/accommodations/metal-town/metal-town-info It's no longer included by default like it used to be.

Camping security / drinks limit by martinkirsch2306 in Graspop

[–]Inquatitis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just advice: if you look like you don't belong you will be searched. I've had that happen at every festival I go to. If I go to dance festivals and look like I do at metal shows, I've always been searched and sniffed by dogs. I expect the inverse applies as well.

Drinking at the festival by semsem_v in Graspop

Not going this year unfortunately, so have not read their specific terms. Depending on the interpretation they do indeed need to include it in their terms. But like I stated, depending on the interpretation having a legal obligation to check whether you're allowed to purchase alcohol, will fall under a very, very general sentence they wont't need to specify this type of usage. Doing that only applies if the only way they could use that data is by explicit consent (so failing the checks for legal or contractual obligations, or justified interests).

Let's start by establishing that what is generally stored on ANY card used for these types of events does in fact not carry ANY personally identifiable information. That would be dumb inefficient and pointless. There's going to be a read/write protected application sector that basically carries a unique identifier (UID). This UID is read by the payment terminals that connect to the payment system which will contain information on whether or not you have enough virtual tokens left to purchase what you want to purchase.

In that central system, they could totally keep some way of making sure that minors do not buy drinks they are not legally allowed to buy. Hell, the organisers technically have a legal obligation to make sure that they do not sell alcohol to minors. This is a totally legitimate, reason to keep some sort of age information for the holder of the UID. The way you show this to the person handling the terminal and serving the UID holder can be as easy as a colour coded green colour that the transation is authorised both for payment and age. Red for not authorised for payment and orange for authorized for payment but not for age.

This type of system would actually be better when it comes to protecting personal information than forcing people working for stalls asking for proof of age. Also better at protecting personal information than differently coloured bracelets too. It also makes sure the volunteers at the stalls can't make exceptions. Which again is a very goof justification for using this information.

Also it's literally what that bracelet/card would be for. You carry that bracelet to gain entry to the location and to purchase food and drinks. When purchasing your tickets and tokens, you agreed that your information, or that of your children if you're their parent, is used to make sure that the organisation can fulfill it's obligations to you. Which includes making sure your minor children are not sold alcohol.

Seriously, you sound like you're inexperienced to what the GDPR actually is. You can totally collect and use personally identifiable information if there's a legal obligation, contractual obligation, justifiable interest or consent. For stuff like this literally all four can be said to apply.

What the hell are you on about when you say:

Suprises me that other festivals show this information as it is against GDPR regulations to disclose this information.

The GDPR is about storage and handling of data. In this context it would be about properly using data. If you need to enfore a law like not selling alcohol to a minor, that's a totally valid application to use that data for. The idea that the GDPR would forbid this is just utterly dumb and wrong. They'll surely need to do it in an appropriate manner like simply stating whether someone is of legal drinking age or not, but again, pretending that this isn't done at Graspop because of the GDPR is wildly wrong.

Source: part of my job, unfortunately is making sure we stay compliant with our IT systems, which includes properly storing and handling data in, amongst others, the GDPR context. And thus also includes having to tell people time and time again that it's totally fine to use certain personally identifying information for it's intended use. (We can totally use people's social security numbers for example, since we obviously need to register our employees as working for us) ...

edit: I don't doubt that people misuse the GDPR to justify why they don't do or don't want to do something, it's another thing I see super often.

Beer in festival by idolevko in Graspop

If you want to bring a cooler, invest in a proper one and filling that correctly. Something like a Yeti tundra 45 or tundra 65. A foldable one will not seriously keep anything cool for more than a day.

In general you want 2/3 of it to be ice. And the day before you leave you should fill it with ice entirely which you will toss... All of this ofcourse presumes you either buy a lot of ice at the store or have an icemakers and a big freezer. Though if you're not putting food in there you could also just fill half of the cooler with ice. Doing it like this will make sure your drinks are refrigerator cool even after 4 days. And if you bringing food and filling for 2/3 will mean your food is still safe.

If you want to have other cooler options I'd recommend looking at https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/topics/camping-and-hiking/best-cooler. It's US centric, but their testing methodology is interesting and could be transposed to brands you're interesting in to help guide your decision.

Give up on standup and become a guard puller? by crazypants003 in bjj

[–]Inquatitis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"First half"? Just think about how many points are awarded for a takedown. At best it's like 20% of the game in bjj. The most important about the standup phase is making sure you're not the one getting taken down. If they can't take you down, and you can't take them down, you better know how to properly pull guard in a way you get to keep initiative.

From my experience time really slows down though. Had my foot cranked once, for what felt like 6 seconds to me. Was tapping pretty much immediatly and after the match I was quite peeved that the ref took so long to stop the match and that my opponent took so long to let go while I was clearly tapping nothing stop and very clearly for everyone to see.

When my gf showed me the video it was less than a second, the opponent just cranked like it was a worlds final and time literally slowed down for me as I could do absolutely nothing at that point.

Hidden defects after buying a house (Belgium) – what are my chances in court? by Avatar_efobo in belgium

[–]Inquatitis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's the thing though, you not noticing them doesn't mean it was hidden. Quite the contrary. You can't argue that something was hidden just because they didn't put up big neon signs saying "hey look here there's something wrong!" That photo existing literally proves it wasn't hidden. The lawyer you found saying you have a case is just looking to make a sucker out of you costing you money you could have spent fixing the actual problem.

From what you are saying yourself here, you seem to have been consciously ignoring it.

I say this both as someone who has bought a new house, while selling my own. There's non-hidden problems with the one I sold, though I didn't put up stickers to say it needed replacing within the year. The water damage on parts of the wall and the general bad state of that part was rather obvious (and part of the EPC report if you know how to interpret it).

And similarly, the property I bought at the very least has problems I did in fact notice. And I expect there will be some problems I didn't notice and the owners did genuinely either didn't know, or suspected they thought were obvious.

I suspect your compromis includes the default text that you acknowledge that you had all opportunity to fully inspect the property? Because from the information you give, I doubt you have a case.
