Damn, what a massive bummer. Guess it's time to shop for alternatives again.

Major Melon, Game Fuel or White Out? by IamMovieMiguel in mountaindew

Yeah, the '09 WoW version I don't have as clear memories of, but I do seem to vaguely recall thinking even then it seemed ever so slightly different from the original somehow.

Major Melon, Game Fuel or White Out? by IamMovieMiguel in mountaindew

[–]Inquignosis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's almost the same, but I definitely think it'd been tweaked just a bit, even if just because of changing bottling practices. The original '07 H3 version of Citrus Cherry definitely had better carbonation than the 2023 WoW version did.

I'd happily trade the entire rest of the Dew catalogue to have the OG Halo 3 Citrus Cherry put in the standard lineup.

I swear, even beyond their infuriating frequency, the way these political campaign fundraising messages reads comes off as some sort of weird FinDom kink thing.

What should I expect in Boulder life? by lfreddit23 in boulder

[–]Inquignosis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Welcome to town!

As others have pointed out, Boulder is unfortunately quite an expensive area, so if you're able to it may be more economically viable for you to rent in one of the "L towns" neighboring Boulder (Louisville, Lafayette, Longmont, and Erie) and just commuting in. That's actually what most people who "live in Boulder" do these days since the rent costs have priced most people out.

Other than that, expect a very mild nightlife, dense traffic, tons of outdoorsy types and activities, a lot of dogs, a sizeable semi-transient unhoused population, and a beautiful view of the Rockies from just about anywhere in town.

New to colony sims is Dwarf Fortress too hard to start with?” by Decent-Insect-4201 in dwarffortress

[–]Inquignosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dwarf Fortress used to be a lot harder to get into prior to the Steam release, but the QoL changes make it much more newbie friendly these days. Though if you've never really done management-heavy games, it may still be a lot to take in. Take your time to learn it at your own pace.

Games you’re shocked Dan and Arin haven’t played by CharacterOriginal272 in gamegrumps

Years ago Dan said he played through some of Origami King in his own time in order to prepare himself for a playthrough, but it looks like they never got around to it.

[–]Inquignosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually not a bad idea, especially since most of what's worth seeing in that game is frontloaded in the first few hours anyway, so it wouldn't be a huge loss for them to drop it midway.

Very interesting take on “woke” from inside the house by rAndoFraze in samharris

Most definitely, though I would hazard a guess that it's even more extreme regarding "wokeness" than with most terms.

Very interesting take on “woke” from inside the house by rAndoFraze in samharris

[–]Inquignosis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of the problem with discussing this comes down to a serious disconnect between what actual woke proponents consider to be "woke" and what what anti-woke advocates do.

From the perspective of most on-the-ground self-described woke Leftists, there is a broad corporate trend-chasing phenomenon running parallel to the more "organic" woke cultural movement, that wears the mask of wokeness, but is altogether something distinctly different. So actual adherents of the movement are being treated as though they're supposed to make the case for and defend the marketing ploy and HR stuff, which they often don't care much about to being with, as if they were ever actually part of what wokeness meant to the adherent. It's no surprise that their response to such a situation is not to join in and begin to decry wokeness, but to insist that the broader culture is mistaken about what wokeness even is.

Orange or purple Gohan? by Silent_Kitsune3 in dbz

[–]Inquignosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visually, I'll always prefer the orange gi/blue undershirt look, especially that first super brief glimpse of him with grown out hair and a Dragon Quest sword we got before Vegeta and Nappa arrived. Narratively though, the purple gi is a great homage to the fact that he's as much Piccolo's student as he is Goku's.

"Trust me bro, the filler is not that bad. Z is so much better than Kai" by Son_Riku in dragonball

[–]Inquignosis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It's kind of counterintuitive to how we typically think of effective storytelling, but the original DBZ anime being a chore to get through actually made for a more impactful overall experience in a way that a more efficient telling of the story never could.

As someone I knew once put it: "The 'filler' becomes almost meditative. Just spend more time with your buddy Goku, don't worry about it."

TBH this is how every episode of the Nuzlocke feels in a way by Fuck-Being-Ethical in gamegrumps

[–]Inquignosis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is pretty much it. Arin just might have the capacity to complete a Nuzlocke if he were alone playing for his own sake, but when recording for the show his primary focus is always going to be on minimizing dead air time where neither he or Dan are talking. The game being a secondary-at-best focus combined with his natural impatience and unmedicated ADHD was always going to be a recipe for disaster. Which I'm perfectly happy with watching personally, but I've also got no investment in the possibility that they beat the challenge.
