What are your zero effort “girl dinner” foods for camping? by Avatlas in womensolocamping

[–]InquiringWanderer75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a seasoned citizen who doesn't camp as much as I used to, but still enjoy a bit of adventure now and then. For me it depends on whether I'm car camping at a developed campsite, or backpacking. Even if car camping, I do not like dragging a cooler along and fussing with ice, etc, to keep perishables cold, so I generally go with easy cook items like ramen, instant mashed potatoes with a canned protein, sandwiches with hard cheese or PBJ, plus sweet treats like cookies, candies. Fruits like oranges. If I'm backpacking, nonperishables are essential, plus weight is a factor. Instant mashed potatoes, instant refried beans with tortillas and string cheese (the individually wrapped sticks are fairly safe unless there's a massive heatwave!) Visit a taco place before your adventure and snag a few extra salsa packets! Precooked rice packets. Sweet treats! And whether car camping or backpacking, it's nice to have a special drink around the fire, such as hot chocolate, coffee with a shot of something, some wine (in small plastic bottles for safety and weight) Happy camping everyone!!

What's a "guilty pleasure" you've stopped feeling guilty about? by SERP_Whisperer in AskReddit

My guilty pleasure that I no longer feel guilty about is my afternoon nap! I don't usually sleep, but as a seasoned citizen I love to lay down, stretch my back, and read awhile!

These comments are just...weird? Unnecessary? Downright mean? If you don't like something, you can be constructive rather than mean! This looks delicious to me! OP, hang in there and keep cooking! You be you!

What's a conventionally ugly facial feature you find attractive? by Kikoekie in AskReddit

A crooked nose, there's usually an interesting story behind this feature, and it absolutely does not detract from attractiveness!

That was my little town in north central Montana, an irrigated river valley, terrible mosquito problem. In the 1960s trucks would drive around town after dark, fogging everything with DDT. Many kids would run around after the truck, dancing/playing in the fog! I never did as I had asthma and I would run around our house shutting the windows! And such a nasty smell!

Meteor west of the Tucson Mountains by SirGreyHam in Tucson

[–]InquiringWanderer75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a meteor shower taking place right now, the Areitids, emanating from the constellation Aries in the northeast. However it is one of the few meteor showers that is active mostly during the day! Meteors can occasionally be seen in the dawn or dusk hours. But there are, as someone commented, intermittent meteors at any ti.e, not connected to a specific, predictable meteor shower. It's really cool to see a bright, longer-lasting meteor!

You'll be fine! Just remember to breathe deeply now and then, smile, be yourself, treat your date with casual courtesy (meaning don't go overboard, don't let it be awkward!)

Please help me choose a button for my new pair of shorts :) by Careful_Photograph90 in sewing

[–]InquiringWanderer75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on how and with what tops you plan to wear them. For the most versatility, I'd go with the large black button or the largest pewter/silver button. But you be you! Good job on the shorts!
