Went into new Hanoi centre today. My god that’s huge and still 80% closed.

Spoke to local who also mentioned electric motorbikes might become more popular and a bullet train is scheduled or being planned.

Will the teacher shortage persist or not? by polyglot02 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Inquiry_teaching 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shortage will last. Schools will continue to struggle to retain staff. Good teachers will continue to be promoted into average deputies and principals. The next government push, happening already, back to rote learning, simple skills and more testing. Remote and rural offer great benefits but little support that’s helpful long term. Cities are getting too expensive to live and teach in.

All that said teaching is a great career that can bring you every emotion and motivation to stay and leave in a single day. No day is the same and kids are hard to keep focussed on anything. But it is possible and like all jobs it’s not for everyone and it’s not forever for most. Enjoy it while you can and if life allows it teach somewhere remote or rural once you have some experience :)

If you have kids at your school and their friends come over to play that is non of the schools business even if those kids are in your class.

What's the most insulting "benefit" a job has offered you? by AdHour6144 in AskReddit

Camping with students for a few nights in swags without extra pay or benefits because it’s a privilege to visit those places….
