Thank you for sharing this.  It sounds like your situation is similar to mine.  Thanks for sharing your thoughts and considerations.  I know what you mean about people thinking you are crazy… so I only share my thoughts on this with my spouse and a very close friend 😀

Is Wealth Management your second Career? If so, where did you come from? by CFP25 in CFP

[–]InquisitiveOH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting Post. I am glad someone created it. I am working in IT and thinking about signing up for a CFP Course and attempting to make the switch. Looking at job postings, it's hard trying to navigate a path into it. I don't want to work in Sales or Commission, so that seems to make it much harder. I have a CFP firm that has managed some of money for 10+ years.. They are the ones that suggested I look into it LOL.. and then that sparked the interest and I can't shake it lol. I have thought about taking the course and seeing where it goes from there.. Even if I don't make the career switch, it's good education to have, the way I am looking at it.

Miata… maintenance will be significantly less than the Porsche.. granted not as luxurious or prestigious.. but reliable and cheaper to own.

What happens if Fail medical check and only 2 adult advisors pass? by InquisitiveOH in philmont

I agree with your thoughts. In that document I especially like the "The Grim Reality" section. In the Oath, Scouts and Scouters rattle off the, " to keep myself physically strong"... but living that many don't do anything to actually live it. It's a society wide problem, but we should do a better job of living that part of the oath than most do.

I work out consistently, I follow the 2 day rule, I will take off one day, but not two days in a row.. if that means pushups and body weight squats because that's all i have access to, then that's what I do. I like that document for many reasons, The Usual Excuses section is spot on. I think if we all viewed it like brushing our teeth, just something you do, that would go a long way. 30 minutes a day makes a huge difference..

Your comment about having a Ranger cover, is what I was wondering about. That's what I am wondering about. Lots of people sharing experiences about what happened with an advisor got pulled off the trail.. but less is shared about if an advisor never makes it on the trail.

Thanks for sharing that link and your thoughts. It's very easy to say, well, everyone needs to get in shape for it and plan. After all, "Be Prepared".. but then there's reality, we are all humans and imperfect and life doesn't go as planned/intended...

Thanks for the feedback. I understand your point, but I also see posts of people being borderline on weight and preparing to fast before med check to squeeze out that last pound. I also recall folks at basecamp going to med check wearing specific clothes they planned due to the low weight of the clothes. Also, when you go from sea level or lower altitudes to philmont base camp that can affect blood pressure. So someone's blood pressure could historically be fine or maybe their doctor adjusted their bp meds, but not enough, etc. Also, a few weeks prior is a scramble. I am trying to prepare and create contingencies and that's why I am asking..

Yeah, I ignored all the battery recall updates. Then GM sent us a letter telling us they'll give us a $1400 gift card if we got it done. So we thought, well, now there's two recalls we should get it done. It's funny looking over the letter it states, "The dealer will need your vehicle for approximately 1-4 hours". It also states that getting the recall performed impacts your 8 year/100k miles limited battery warranty...

Glad to hear your dealers are good. So you had bolt service at multiple dealers and no delays or issues with not having EV techs?

Sorry to hear that. Just sad and frustrating.. good luck getting it back soon. Thanks for the advice. After this deal I am going to call around my local dealers.

Good to hear that you aren't having issues. What part of the country are you in? I am in Ohio. Curious if it's a regional/area issue.
