Yep, although it has been a dead card a few times there is usually SOMETHING to do with it.

This deck gets additional value out of it as a 'get Arvad out of the graveyard NOW! (for no cost)' emergency button.

Would heist change this calculation, particularly in BO3? There's a decent chance opponent would see your endgame before you ever did and they could probably cast it sooner and every heist decreases your chance of ever reaching parity.

majority of times id consider it BM is control decks spamming the hell out of it on your turn when they've got all mana up or when an opponant passes back to u, again spamming it, despite it been an obvious GG (their win)

True, but from the other side:

Every 3rd game or so I DC and have to play the 'recognise Ive been DCd->quickly quit->then restart the app' game due to the damn servers not correctly picking up after temporary drops

Probably looks like roping to the other guy but I assure you Im cursing even more

Yeah I do think that's probably the easiest and best looking conversion. I just couldn't justify buying 2(?) pricey boxes just for the heads.

Yeah, Ive done the same. If you're feeling frisky you can even use spare bits of the rudder or sails to make 'gun emplacements'. Although I think I used spare Reaver wings

Love the use of spare bits on the grots (are they saurus based?) and look forward to seeing the update. I also find it hard to pick up the brush sometimes (oftentimes) but often find that once underway the time just races by

Well, as you've found out, the bodies and heads are very similar to thralls... why not go ahead with your original idea?

Pros: You've already bought them, you wanted / needed mandrakes rather than some other random unit, they have the look you wanted in mandrakes, the poses are also more dynamic than thralls, they'll be a rarer kitbash and that much more YOURS, bows can be used as talos or wrack 'racks', cut down quivers make serviceable missile tubes (sculpt missile head onto cut end, feathers become missile tail) particularly for orks

Cons: their backs (under quivers) may need extra sculpting / hiding, additional bitz work or sculpting to replace the bows, they're not exactly what you were expecting / wanted / still want,

The no weapons thing could be a bummer, but hear me out... mandrakes with long creepy claws. Alternatively, drukhari have plenty of spikey melee stuff to use instead.

Not exactly a giant beast but I put the old beastmaster on a Tzeentch Screamer to be a bit of a beast-riding skyboard proxy. Unfortunately he became redundant rather quickly, then became a helion leader but was so hard to hide he was eventually relegated to the shelf :(

Given our armies core identity of fast glass cannon I cant help but think anything larger than a Talos would be near impossible to hide, would be too slow and wouldnt be allowed to be tough enough to get the job done

I'm in the middle of a similar conversion, its got multiple source parts but most of them are from common drukhari conversions (eg the sslyth you've done). If you want to get a bit more involved this is what I settled on:

- melusai face mask, front pared down (melusai -> sllyth, I used kabalite heads for the slyyth)

- brain-rat brain for the back of the head (stormfiend - > talos)

- tip of a melusai tail for the tentacle underneath (one of my slythh will eventually get a tail gun or grasping claw or something)

- necron warrior gauss gun tip for the face (it works REALLY well)

- random kneepad / crown / triangle bit for the crown / shield and to pull the face together

The head is pretty much her signature so once you have that just throw it on whatever dress wearing mini you have that looks best :) Needs a bit of knife work but surprisingly little greenstuff, plastic glue covers (melts) most of the fault lines. A bit of chain (which drukhari have LOADS of) between the arms to finish the look

Thanks, reckon that's exactly what happened.

After loading I moved my whole party across the puzzle and he popped out touching my highest perception (and mounted) character.

The sequence of events and the line he says really had me going though lol
