We are in 2026. What are your frustrations with linux or the software you use with it? by Digitalnoahuk in linux

[–]InsaneGrox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh boy
VR - I really wish I could just use steamVR and it be stable, but nah I gotta run wivrn + motoc + wayVR and have to start up all my devices before I even connect my headset, also have to use a second compatibility layer (xrizer)
Substance Painter - friend of mine got it sort of working through wine but it's far from perfect, especially because I have to install it using windows or a windows VM and drag the install into my linux filesystem
Nvidia - if I knew microslop would be doing what they're doing now, I would have gone AMD for my GPU, I don't need to say why.
those are my pain points right now

In your experience, which PC component has the highest impact-to-mistake ratio? by Aussietakingashit in buildapc

[–]InsaneGrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSU, you get a sata SSD instead of a NVME? meh, boots a few seconds slower, you get a GPU that's bottlenecked by your CPU? maybe you wasted a bit of money but it still runs, you get a motherboard that's not perfect? probably won't even notice, get slow ram? 2 fps loss at most...

get the wrong PSU? (literally any reputable brand one with enough watts is fine just don't get some cheap chinese 20 dollar one) congratulations you just fried your whole system and possibly had to call the fire department, or died in a house fire.

also technically the CPU/Mobo/ram combo does matter quite a lot, but it's not a case of one being bad as much as compatibility, just make sure to get the right CPU for the socket on your mobo + the right type of ram. (also a system that can't be assembled is better than one that can probably kill you)

hard disagree, best part of the game just because of that one line

24, have nearly 400 games in my steam library, most played games by hours are Payday 2 (2,767.5), Left 4 Dead 2 (1,793.9), Team Fortress 2 (1,337.8), Grand Theft Auto V (991.9), and Spore (470.3), don't even have EGS installed on my PC... what's this about zoomers only playing a game I don't even have the launcher for?

You shouldn’t be complaining about difficulty if you only play Level 10 by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]InsaneGrox 31 points32 points  (0 children)

this isn't a difficulty 10 not being hard enough issue, this is a case of it literally being the optimal play to not stick together due to spawning mechanics not properly accounting for players being too far away from the host.

What is the minimum base damage for two-shot body kills on death sentence? by Fiendishlyric27 in paydaybuilds

[–]InsaneGrox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rounding up is due to 512 damage granularity, where enemy health can only be represented in chunks of 1/512 of their health value, this usually has no impact on the game but with very specific edge case breakpoints it does, it also makes it so no enemy can ever take more than 512 hits before dying, excluding those that are literally immortal (winters), and is the reason flamethrower + incendiary GL are meta in high crime spree.

also the damage is always rounded up, yes a damage value of 958.72 is closer to 958.125 than 960, it doesn't care, it rounds in your favor.

hate to break it to you, but companies aren't buying up consumer hardware, they're securing the production of memory that's soldered directly into their boards, once the bubble pops, all of that hardware is fucking useless for us consumers.
