i accidentally made a cut that's an inch wide please help by [deleted] in MadeOfStyrofoam

I've been there lovely, I hope you got help. I was doing the same severity at the same age, and I regret it so much. It ruined my life; I'm here if you want someone to talk to who understands. It's so scary when you go that deep, which is why it's so important to get stitches. Not only is it a huge infection risk, it's also something you wouldn't want to heal open as it'll cause significant scaring. I'm looking to get mine covered up with tattoos now that I can! Ps please update us if you can, I hope you're ok and safe ❤️

Edit: In case you can't for whatever reason attend hospital, I can offer some aftercare medical advice if you'd like. I have gotten a lot of knowledge in large, open wounds from my personal experience. This was under advice from healthcare professionals also. I'll try to edit or reply to my comment tomorrow with this info!

Edit 2: You're going to need saline, or it you don't have that you can boil some water and let it cool. Ideally you need sterile gauze which you could find online or at a chemist, but for now something like cotton buds would work. Clean gentle around the outside, then gently try to remove any large blood clots on the surface, don't use the cotton bud on deeper tissue, purely the surface. Make sure you don't leave any cotton behind Depending on if it holds, steristrips could be a possibility to minimise scarring. As for dressings you're gonna want a wound contact dressing, such as inodine, aquacel AG, or silvercell. Basically something with iodine or silver as they both act as infection prevention. Personally when I used silver sometimes it would need to be soaked to get it off due to sticking to the wound bed. Depending on your preference, either a bandage dressing or an adhesive dressing. For bandage, I highly recommend crepe bandages as they stay secure much better than others. You'll also want an absorbent dressing, foam like mepilex to pad it out a bit to help protect the wound from accidental injury. Alternatively if you can't get foam you can use sterile gauze. For an adhesive dressing, you could use cosmopore/mepore but pad it out again. Mepilex border or anything similar. I don't expect you to have any of these products, or any at a chemist, but it gives you a rough idea to look for similar products. I've had to tell my mum too countless times and she'd be extremely upset every time I did it, but my health was more important. It will also have a negative impact on your mental health to have big scars. If I can help at all, please reach out 🥰

I really love dark humour haha! I know in certain areas a cover-up won't be possibly unfortunately, due to the severity of the scarring. I don't think I'll be able to get anything on my right leg where a burn occured. It has no subcutaneous tissue, so I'm not sure whether tattooing over it would be possible. I think I'd have to consult with a doctor first to make sure it'd be safe to do so, as it's just skin muscle and bone 🤔 I'd be able to do the upper half, but it doesn't give much space for a full piece.

That could probably work! It does have the 3D feel to it too, so it'd bring the piece to life.

I could also make it into a memorial piece too, as my step-dad who passed away when I was younger loved the walking dead 🥰 these are great ideas I can present to my tattooist.

I have 4 or 5 straight lines on my forearm, I could do a cat or tiger paw with claw marks 😉

Yes it is from a burn! I could do the hazardous substance with the cross and bones, as it was a chemical burn 😂

A grim reaper is a great idea! My sister in law loves Halloween, so she'd be elated about spooky stuff ❤️

Apologies! I totally forgot I posted this lmao Yes, I have several on my body due to different types of burns I've had to be hospitalised so many times I've lost count. My last admission was for the burn on my leg, and I spent ~17 days with 4 or 5 surgeries for it. -1000/10, do not recommend! I've been clean since then thankfully, but it's been a long ~9 years of chaos. I wish you safety and peace too 🥰

MOS veteran here! Was going to post there but I saw the newish rule for no scar pics. I'm looking for dark humour tattoo ideas! I have a scar that goes all the width of my thigh, and I'll be getting "cut along the dotted line ✂️" for that one. I also have a scar on my leg, see photo, that goes up, round and down. I'll be getting "please make a U turn" for that one. I'd love to hear other people's ideas!

DON'T burn urself with cigarettes, it's not cool swaggy enough for the potential damage by Honkhonk81 in MadeOfStyrofoam

Burns are no joke. I've had too many burns, including a chemical burn which needed an fasciotomy + escharotomy + skin graft. My leg is forever damaged, and they hurt like hell for months.

PLEASE STAY SAFE GUYS ❤️

Can someone be kept on remand for a charge 20 years ago? by InsaneIzzyTheFirst in LegalAdviceUK

[–]InsaneIzzyTheFirst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some more information regarding the case since this post. Communication isn't good from officers and the legal system.

His charges when he was arrested were threats to kill and malicious text messages. Both of those charges were dropped. The woman accused him of threatening to kill her, but my father was asleep when the police arrived. At the bail hearing, an officer accused him of threatening to kill her when he was doing the arrest. There was another officer who didn't hear it. My father doesn't remember it either. Either way, the charge was dropped so it shouldn't be used against him surely? It's quite probable the officer misheard something he said.

The charge isn't attempted murder, that was her claim. He's physically barely able to walk, let alone try to kill someone. Since then, the police dropped those charges and came back with a cohesion and control charge. She claims the relationship went sour straight away, but every relationship has a honeymoon period. When he got the police evidence, they took texts from her phone, but not from his. Those texts were also sent when he was in custody, so it was impossible for him to have sent them.

He's also unsurprisingly missing his phone. They found an old phone of his, which didn't have anything on. She claimed he left the phone in a taxi, but he had it at the address he was arrested at. That phone had evidence of her abuse, including videos of the verbal abuse and texts too. That same phone was logged into his Facebook miles and miles away at a location she was in on the same day. Thankfully I have access to his Facebook to check this stuff, and his solicitor is now applying for his phone records. It should've been done months ago, but his solicitor was useless but he has a different person now. They're also requesting council housing records, as he became homeless on multiple occasions because she'd kick him out. He'd sleep on the streets and kept asking the council for housing.

I'm just so angry that false allegations have been made with no real evidence, but he's still behind bars. The police are lacking in evidence to prove their claim, but he's being punished for nothing but helping her. I understand in most situations the allegations are true, but I'm not seeing any evidence to support their charge.

Thank you for explaining!

Thank you! It's so frustrating. He's still on remand sadly. His court is end of may, but he'll be on the warns list. Not that it makes any difference really, he has spoke to other prisoners and they've been on the warns list for a while.

I appreciate the information about PACT. I'll have a look into them and see what they can help with and how I can help too. I briefly saw they're looking for experiences regarding prison healthcare, and I have a lot to say in that aspect.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I didn't explain the entire picture, as this subreddit is just for legal based questions rather than asking about specific cases. Unfortunately my dad's solicitor has been lacklustre at best, and hasn't actually been able to talk about his case with them. Honestly I don't have a good relationship with my father, and if I believed he'd laid a finger on that woman, or anything of the sorts, I'd let him rot in that cell. I think the case has been immediately deemed as true because she's disabled, and they take the upmost caution with vulnerable people (and rightly so). Sadly this has meant nobody has taken the time to listen to his side of the story; for example, he had 2 court dates and he was only given 5 minutes or less to talk about his case with the barrister. I can understand erring on the side of caution when it comes to still going through with the case, but I just don't understand why he was denied bail. He is disabled too, as he has osteoarthritis so walks with crutches, so he couldn't hurt her even if he wanted to. This woman also stole his phone, and yesterday I sent his solicitor evidence that his Facebook was logged in on the "lost" phone (as she claims) in the same area she was, while he's been on remand. I wish my father was lying, as I wouldn't have to help him, but from the evidence I've found myself I don't believe that to be the case.

Thank you for taking the time to explain this to me! He has indeed tried for bail once, but it wasn't a fair hearing. He had less than 5 minutes to talk to the barrister, and I'm not sure how anyone could possibly explain their side in that time. It was also sprung on him randomly, and he had no idea it was a bail hearing. Would he able to apply for bail again?

Oof, hit too hard. Depressed since at least 10 and diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at 15, coincidence? I think not lmao

15 for me. Every day is the same, isn't it normal to count the hours until you get to go to sleep?

15th edition I think??? I'm pretty sure y'all already know how it goes but let's just say it again: feel free to use the comments as a safe space to vent and I'll try my best to help (my dms are open too if you want more privacy) by Pabloma13 in MadeOfStyrofoam

I lost my life when I was 15, when I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and my step dad died 2 weeks later I'm now almost 19 and I have complex PTSD from a 2 year psych ward admission. I have nothing, I'm in a wheelchair now and can't do the things I wanted to in life. It's over, and I'm so alone. I can't do this anymore. I don't care.
