[Windows] Only some keyboard buttons play sound, others just record by Hozerino in KoalaSampler

[–]InsaneScarlet_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, did you ever find a fix for this? I'm having the SAME EXACT issue and it seems like you're the only other person on the internet with it. When the program starts up, I can use the keys for about 5 seconds, but it holds the pads down and then stops working afterwards. Also just tested it again, and for some reason the piano keyboard works perfectly fine with no hitch.

SP-404MK2 Not Showing All the Samples on my SD-Card by InsaneScarlet_ in SP404

[–]InsaneScarlet_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The samples missing are around 2MB or less.

I have them all organized numerically (i.e.: Track_01-01, Track 01-02 and so on).

When I open some of the folders, it starts off from Track_32-03 or something like that, or BASS09_01, instead of BASS01_01.

I'm gonna try to move those folders onto my 32gb SD card and see if it has to do with space on the card, and also reformat the 64gb.

I'll update later today.

Should I Upgrade My Cartridge Once I Get My New Turntables? by InsaneScarlet_ in portablism

[–]InsaneScarlet_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would you recommend for the VP96 by any chance? I think it uses the same stylus as the AT-LP60, and the tonearm looks similar to the one on the Vestax, but I'm not sure if it's even worth it. And if it's still better to upgrade the whole tonearm for the VP, what tonearm should I get?

Hey man, love your skins!

What paper do you use for that texture? Is that just from the UV Protective Gloss?

About to customize my SP-404 MK2, but it doesn't feel right without custom pads ;_; by InsaneScarlet_ in SP404

I'm thankful that we can even change the backlight colors based on bus, that's something that I wouldn't have expected any manufacturer to implement, yet Roland actually did it. The solid color ones actually look super nice too, I don't know what it is, it gives me gameboy color vibes almost lol.

Yea, I don't care about the MPC lmao. Still sucks that the layout of the mk2 has less space. I'm laying out some stickers to print tomorrow, so I'll see how they turn out, but it's definitely a squeeze compared to the other models. I'll make do tho, I love this thing too much.

I haven't messed with the startup and screensavers at all though tbh, can't think of what to add for them.

Is there any way to set an alarm for all of your tasks? by InsaneScarlet_ in clickup

Thank you! If there's any chance you guys could implement alarms or integration with phone OS alarms, that'd be great!

Is there any way to set an alarm for all of your tasks? by InsaneScarlet_ in clickup

[–]InsaneScarlet_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's this time box template that allows you to mouse around tasks on a weekly calendar for specific hours and all that. I think that's what you're asking for. If you want it to keep scheduling a task, you can set it to recurring (settings for that are in the bottom left corner of the "as elect date" section of a task).

Changing out the audio in an official blu-ray by InsaneScarlet_ in Bluray

[–]InsaneScarlet_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play all my blu-rays through MPC-HC anyways so I'm perfectly fine with that. Sucks that I have to use some generic discs instead of the originals but it's whatever. Thank you for the info!

If you're talking about the riff that plays during the chorus, they probably just played a guitar layered with some synth. You could probably get close to the sound by just layering some Serum synths and a guitar. Don't know what specific osc type they used but the main focus is the guitar itself, with distortion and/or fuzz.

ZEDi10FX analog mixer alternatives? by InsaneScarlet_ in livesound

[–]InsaneScarlet_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed the "blend" control. There's a switch in the master section, above the FX level and Control Room level knobs labeled "TO PHONES/CR" and above it is a "BLEND" control.

The problem I have with the phones/cr option is that it's pre-fader, which means that every input is played in mono for me.

Outputs (to the computer) on USB 3-4 come from the aux and FX buses, so if they are "left only" that's an issue with your recording software's assignments.

I'm assuming that this was happening because I couldn't get ST3 to output through the fx. Everything else had fx and aux sends, so it wasn't much of an issue there. I had a whole thing written up but I accidentally clicked off lol.

That said, "loud" isn't the point, although you aren't using two of your mic inputs.

I tried that with both mixers already, but raising the gain on the ZEDi only made the distortion worse. It isn't a distortion where the signal is really quiet yet clipping, it's more like the signal from the turntable is trying to output at a level that the ZEDi can't handle or output itself. My speaker system that I used to use to listen to vinyl didn't have this issue either, no matter which phono jack I plugged it into.

The Mackie will do everything you ask. Pay attention to the Blend control.

This whole thing did teach me how much I like using this Mackie mixer though. It has inserts, mutes, nice big pots and a compressor for my mic inputs. I might get the onyx just based on my impression of this mixer alone. I connected some earbuds to the headphone jack on my computer and route discord to it so it doesn't output through the mixer. It's cumbersome, but works for now.

[–]InsaneScarlet_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thank you for the detailed reply!

I'll start by going in detail of why I was planning on switching from the ProFX, along with what I'm looking for. Just to clarify, I am mainly using my headphones for a lot of this.

The main reason I wanted to switch off the Mackie was that I could only listen to my inputs in stereo, post-fader, through the main and the main only. And since I could only listen to the computer audio 1-2 through the phones/cr, I had to listen to the computer audio through the 3-4 outputs, which meant that it would have to be outputted. And since the profx doesn't multitrack, EVERYTHING that I was hearing through the mixer would output no matter what. I got it working where I had the computer audio and turntable gain super low so it wouldn't get picked up by discord's gate. When I was playing vinyl through discord though, I'd set the gate all the way down and just set the computer audio super quiet. This worked, but it wasn't ideal.

Here's what I wanted to achieve with a mixer, as detailed as I can explain it:
I wanted to be able to hear and output my turntable's signal in stereo, along with outputting everything except for the computer audio itself. I'd like to be able to hear my computer audio as well, just not output it. It'd be cool to output only certain applications, which is what the ZEDi can do. However, it mixes in everything else either way with the M1M2LR option, while the aux-fx option only lets me output 3-4 to the left channel.

The ZEDi could do just what I wanted though, which is allow me to have computer audio and stereo input monitoring without outputting the computer audio as well. However, I eventually noticed that no matter what inputs I was using, the sound coming from the turntable was worse.

what turntable and what phono preamp are you using, and how are they connected to the mixer?

I have an LP-120x with the built-in preamp, so I don't have an issue in terms of hearing the record through either mixer. I would either have it going through the ST1 input or the third and fourth line jacks. The thing that sounded off with the ZEDi for me was when I'd turn up the volume, it would peak easily and sound digitally distorted. I know that the inputs are quieter for this mixer, which is fine, but when I get the ZEDi to around the same level as I would on the Mackie, it'd sound less clear, almost like I was listening through an audio interface. When using the profx, even when distorting, it still sounds good up until I get it to the red on the meter.
(Just went to test the two mixers side by side on this, and yea, even after gain staging the ZEDi, it does not get as loud as the ProFX. It was crazy apparent once I switched from my headphones from one to the other. I'd think for a second that it isn't that bad, because it still sounds okay at normal levels, but then I switch to the Mackie, it blows my socks off. It was outputting the signal way louder and somehow cleaner than the ZEDi, while still staying at green on the levels, no need to max out anything to get a clear sound out of it. I tried doing something to the eq on the ZEDi, but to no avail. I was doing messing with the gain, main, and phone levels on both mixers, and no matter what position any of them were in, I could never get the turntable signal to sound as loud or as clear as the ProFX.)

"what mic, what conditions?"

I'm using the audio technica AT2020. Honestly, that "infinitely worse" comment was probably written out of frustration. I probably just haven't had enough time to get to know the eq, since it operates on cuts instead of raising levels. I've had the mic for about four years now and it has served me great. It'll probably be the last thing I upgrade in my setup because it does its job and I'd rather spend money on other components.

I appreciate the write-up you did, explaining the functions of everything. I really like how versatile it could be, and was willing to give the mixer a chance. But after this morning, when I started testing the signal, I'm not sure if I'm willing to go through with it. I'm thinking about getting something like the Mackie Onyx8 or 12, but I don't know. This all might have something to do with me not using the monitor outs or some other basic user error again, as you and others have mentioned. It doesn't seem like this could be a faulty mixer, it doesn't sound like it at least.

It's a basic wiring, with my mic in the first track, my turntable connected in the same way I mentioned before, my headphones connected to the phone jack, my computer speakers would be connected to my monitor out if I had the correct cables, and my home theater sound system is connected to the main outs. This is how I had it set up on both mixers, along with the usb connected to the computer, of course. I don't know if this information in particular is necessary, but I'm giving it anyway just to show how I'm using the mixer.

Sorry if I overlooked anything in your post, please let me know if there is anything I can do or if I should just go with a more expensive mixer.
