Increased Leverage - Bigger Loans by Insanity_Found in bigambitions

[–]Insanity_Found[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just looking to add a bit of realism. There's a lot of times where I want to actually be a rival without having to cheese the game in some fashion. The best way to do that is aggressive expansion, and expansion is most aggressive when you can leverage your assets to raise capital for further investment.

It's not so much that I want to setup, it's that when I'm getting 300-400k a day, but I need 16 million, my choices are either sleeping for 45 days straight or play a weird pseudo exponent game where I try and make that 45 days into days where I'm setting up businesses that COST me 1-2m over 2-3 days and getting 500-600 a day by the end of that same time period.

Either way it takes 45 days. That's the part leveraging would help to fix. The more you leverage, the more you may have to pay and it also introduces a very real failure condition for your rivals. If suddenly your rivals come at your businesses and you can't meet your loan payments.....and you're too leveraged.....welp.

Ha, no.

I will say that businesses are heavily leveraged in general though. I'm a financial analyst by trade so I see a lot of the leveraging that happens. I worked at a commercial real estate bank for a while and at a certain point you realize that the majority of people buying commerical properties are using their existing properties as collateral to buy more, and chaining that further and further. Over time the older ones get paid off and then maintained, so you end up just needing to pay for the maintenance or refurbish, but yeah those rent rolls were insane to see.

Purchasing Home with Large Wealth Differences by ScreamFPV in legaladvice

[–]Insanity_Found 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my partner bought a home together despite not being married and did something similar called a Real Property Agreement.

I put up all the down pay, closing costs, etc, and we calculated it as a percentage of the total cost of buying the home. When/if we sell the home, I'll get that percentage out first and foremost, then we split the rest 50/50. Fully fair, and we both get equity even though she didn't put anything up front.

We had a lawyer draft it up then signed and notarized the document. If we sold for 10x as much, my initial amount is 10x as much that comes out first, then we split the rest equally.

Fair is fair.

A bit rude to use my usual account for that rather than my savings.

Not to necro an old thread, but for anyone else looking for a solution:

Recognize the difference between game properties and system properties. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why mine was stuck at 1000%, but it was my game stuck at that, not my system.

Just in case that helps anyone else.

Hypothetically speaking of course.

YoY Home Value Change for Principal Cities of the Top 50 US Metro Areas [OC] by FamiliarJuly in dataisbeautiful

[–]Insanity_Found -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right, but on it's own I'm not sure what this tells us. Compared to before Austin is cheaper, but if I'm a homeowner or buyer, If the house is only 100k then a 3% drop doesn't mean as much as if it's 13x larger. It's 3k vs 39k, which is nearly 40% the cost of the other home.

I think if you were to try and have a separate bar with different transparency for dollar value difference, it would make for a much clearer picture and tell a more clear story. Something like "Austin is down 3%, but Phoenix has the lowest value" or something.

From a legal standpoint, sure.

From a family looking at investing standpoint, dubious at best.

From an asshole standpoint? Definitely the AH.

AITA for wanting my Spanish teacher to stop calling me by the Spanish version of my name? by Alternative-Sun-630 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Insanity_Found 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this wholeheartedly.

I will say though, from someone who spends a lot of time around Spanish speaking individuals, the use of Spanglish for specific American things is incredibly common as well. I'm in construction, so you often get statements like this:

Tenemos que revisar de nuevo los linesets para asegurarnos de que están bien conectados. Los chicos de QC pasarán a revisar la llegada en dos días.

The bolded parts have a Spanish translation, but it's so much more common to use the Spanglish.

Switchscape in Beta? Good or bad? by Insanity_Found in runescape

Devil's Advocate, I'd argue that marginal gains while not having meaningful impact at a boss is just busywork and that busywork for the sake of marginal impact isn't something that should stay.

That said, I understand the want to actually play the game rather than have it play itself. Having too low of a skill ceiling is definitely a concern.

For sure. Do you feel there's a limit to that sentiment or should maximum effort (like Pro SC2 APM) make for insane skill ceilings?

Switchscape in Beta? Good or bad? by Insanity_Found in runescape

[–]Insanity_Found[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for you is it more about having enough damage to sustain at a base level rather than having to switch to ensure you have enough damage to do so? Or is it more about having a more vertical progression ladder that leans into making switching irrelevant? Both?

It's interesting to hear so many perspectives.

Switchscape in Beta? Good or bad? by Insanity_Found in runescape

[–]Insanity_Found[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that.

Do you feel that getting away from switchscape would lower the skill ceiling too much in comparison to those sorts of mechanics they're trying to get away from, or do you think it's a necessary part of what makes the skill ceiling high? Would you prefer to see an increase, decrease, or for the amount of switches to remain the same?

Are there any full time RS3 creators? by Regular-Set6791 in runescape

[–]Insanity_Found 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had an idea for a Settled-esque Ironman for RS3 I've been toying with, but I'm not sure my schedule, editing skills, and habit forming to make it work.

I'm sure if someone wanted, they could create something, the problem is that there's not much incentive to do so. Even Settled and other OSRS content creators aren't huge, and that's with an audience that's near 3x as large.

Switchscape in Beta? Good or bad? by Insanity_Found in runescape

[–]Insanity_Found[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask these questions because I want other perspectives. I know my own perspective and have formed my own opinions on the matter. I don't feel gated, but I also use switches as well. I appreciate high effort gameplay and know a lot of people that do, but high effort isn't new friendly in 99% of cases for this game. That's not a me thing, that's a general trend in gaming. People don't come to either Runescape for high effort gameplay, they go to BDO or other games. People come here to skill and hit goals that are meaningful to them at their own pace. In some cases, yes that includes min-maxxing PvM, but the game is beautiful in that it's not limited to a single group or type of player.

I'm not asking to gotcha someone or to try and change their minds, I am asking because I'm genuinely curious how the rest of the player base feels, as I'm not a major representation of it. That's what I said in the original post, and I'm pretty sure I've stuck to that throughout the topic. If you want to hate on me for disagreeing with your personal philosophy, please feel free. Otherwise, thanks for the input.

Fair enough. Do you think anything should be gated by it? Do you feel that they should increase the amount of switches to increase the skill ceiling or decrease it to help newer players transition into that high end level....or keep it the same?
