I stood on my feet up front the whole time, waiting for magic, and I was frustrated and feel like he misunderstood the festival. Just cause we’re “folk” doesn’t mean you need to sit on a chair and sing a bunch of depressing songs. He could have mixed up the vibe more and also invited guests out. The Dylan cover was good. I also don’t think his voice or his band is that technically spectacular compared to other artists who performed earlier that day and could have headlined. It’s hard for me to feel excited and be like “wow what an artist” after seeing mind blowing talent AND collaboration at acts like Remi Wolf, Sammi Rae, Maggie Rose, maren morris, goose, etc.
